Sorry, I don't like BB Cream

I tried the Botanics Radiant Youth BB cream yesterday - and I looked dreadful Confused. It didn't really work as a moisturiser, and gave an unpleasant chalky appearance to my skin. Also the Medium was far too light for my fair skin.

In all fairness, I should point out that I am quite a bit older than the average Mumsnetter.

Should I chuck it out, or am I doing something wrong? I could give it another go over a moisturiser, I suppose - but that's missing the point!

I have come to the conclusion that BB Cream is just a new marketing name for 'tinted moisturiser'.

They successfully mugged us into thinking an entire NEW product was invented. ha!!

Yes BeCool - exactly. It's tinted moisturiser with new funky name

Saucey Goosey, If the Clinique CC cream is still available I would love to try it.

Im inclined to agree with BeCool & SauceForTheGangder.

I have got the Botanics one & I have to admit I do like how it looks, although I find it doesn't last all day - should it? And I have to apply powder (are we suppose to be putting powder on after & indeed moisturiser before?) otherwise it looks like I've ran to answer the front door...

Er apologies Sauce - indeed it is Gander & not Gangder, naughty phone!

Does anyone find them pore-clogging? I've been using the clarins one (Slightly Orange) and SOMETHING is making me very spotty. Can't work out if it's that or too much wine.

ProjectGainsborough The No. 7 one I tried made me break out terribly, but haven't run into that issue with any others. Clarins is meant to be quite good on the skin, so maybe try switching it out with a different one for a week or so lay off the wine Grin

I bought the same one as you OP, based on MN rave reviews. Hideous on me! Chalky, drying...the medium was a sort of milky beige awfulness of a colour in my fair/medium skin and showed up every line and blotchy bit on my face. Grrrr.

I have been using Clinique tinted moisturiser for a while. Its really nice, but not quite enough coverage for my slight rosacea, so have ordered the same brand but the CC cream online (eek) which apparently has better coverage...will report back.

Further to the offer up thread the CC cream will be winging its way to a happier home ...

I agree the uk bb creams are IMO just tinted moisturisers.

The original Asian ones are in a whole different league, I use a Korean one, missha perfect cover I think and it's brilliant. I wouldn't dream of using any makeup instead of moisturiser though so always moisturise first.

I went off to Boots to purchase a BB cream and got collared by the Origins girl who said I didn't want a BB cream, even one of theirs. What I wanted was Vitazing. I didn't really believe and was ready to try and squirm away but let her put some on the back of my hand. Jaw dropping! White cream that turns the right colour for you plus enough to make you look like you just came back off hols. Magical stuff. pretty jaw dropping price too at £28 but I bought one and LOVE it. Don't bother with anything else and my skin has never looked this good, definitely doesn't clog pores as my skin is the first to clog up.

No, I tried a few but frankly life's too short to go from counter to counter begging for samples.

I have give up, BB creams don't do it for me. It's back to moisturiser and foundation.

Darn. Clarins would be so much easier to give up than wine.

Poodle please don't tell me about other wonder products. I've already been out and bought the Botanics cream. (And the BBH, and the Clarisonic, and the Brazillian hair kit and the Tesco waterproof jacket... MN is costing me a LOT of money).

I tried Garnier BB. It looked ok when first applied but then turned orange & greasy.

I tried the Body Shop's & it was too dark & didn't blend well.

I've gone back to foundation again.
