I am thinking I should probably start wearing one as opposed to relying on moisturiser with SPF as I have a bit of melesma.

Can anyone recommend a good one?
Do you put it on before or after moisturiser? And does make up then go on ok over the top?

During the summer, I've been using Bioderma Factor 50 - very light and done'st leave your face white. I put it on after moisturiser, leave moisturiser to soak in for about 5 minutes first although I use a thick moisturiser (Astral). No problems with make up over the top

These days (cloudy, rainy, autumnal basically!) I don't use an extra SPF, I use a BB cream which has factor 30 so I'm hoping that's enough

I use Clinique city block SPF 40 mixed in with my foundation, it works really well - DH's face was bright red after a day of scottish hillwalking, I was fine! I use it every day of the year.
I can get melasma too but the only thing I find to prevent it is by wearing a hat on those particularly hot/sunny days where you think you'll be out all day. It's a pain but worth the alternative. The city block works well for me as long as I'm not sitting there with the sun in my face for 10 hours nonstop. Hth.

I like the Sunsense factor 50 facial range:-

www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Sunsense-Daily-Face-SPF-50

or

www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Sunsense-AntiAgeing-Face-SPF-50

I wear it under make up and instead of moisturiser. It's not at all greasy.

Sorry - that link doesn't seem to work. I buy mine from Ocado but some chemists sell it too.

Cityblock from clinique is amazing. Bear in mind that if you mix it with foundation you are diluting the spf. Ideally it should be applied before foundation.

Another Clinique City Block fan here. Works really well.
