Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

When I bought my Clarins Serum I got a small BFB as well as the eye flash balm to try. I have had them a while now and didn't use them much, but reading through the Serum post it seems I should be.

I didn't get a leaflet with them, so really not sure how to use them. So I tried them last week, did the cleansing, toning, serum, moisturize, flash balm and then bb cream. Isnt this a bit excess? I didn't really notice a difference so today am wearing the BFB and no bb cream but I look a bit shiny.

HOw do you use yours... under bb cream, foundation or without?

Did nothing for me either.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 09/09/2013 07:34

What BB cream are you using?I know European ones are a bit different but Asian ones (I get mine from eBay) have so many things in them flash balm wouldn't be needed.

I used to use flash balm under my lancome foundation and it did brighten my face giving a nice glow. But I also found a superdrug radiance cream was just as good,if not better, and felt nicer on the skin.

Never used bfb on it's own though as it did end up looking shiny.

i use BFB as a primer - def makes a difference for me, especially round the eyes where i'm getting fine lines. i tend to only wear tinted moisturiser on top of it. never tried BB cream (only heard of it a week ago...)

trip I use either the Garnier BB cream or the L'Oreal Nude Magique (white tube with purple lid). They have different finishes on my skin so which ever mood takes me in the morning.. Both European afaik as I am in SA but they both have English and French on tube.

It just feels like I have so much stuff on my skin, that's before even applying any make up.

Skrumle do you use the normal BFB on your eyes or do you have the eye one?

You can use the beauty flash balm as a mask. Leave on for 10 mins & remove with damp pads. Apply moisturizer after.

squoosh · 09/09/2013 13:00

Beauty Flash Balm does nothing for me. I think it's a swizz.

LadyMud · 09/09/2013 13:01

I've been using Beauty Flash Balm for about 30 years Shock, as a first layer under a very light foundation. At first, it definitely made my skin look a bit fresher and less tired. Now I'm not so sure, and have been wondering about newer products. I bought the Botanics BB cream last week, but haven't tested it yet.

Ledkr · 09/09/2013 13:04

Love the botanics bb cream. How can you not use it yet?
I have to try my new products in the car after I buy them Grin

squoosh · 09/09/2013 13:05

Me too!

I had Origins Drink Up Mask delivered this morning and I've already tried it on my arm, even though it's for my face.

LadyMud · 09/09/2013 13:06

Ha ha - I bought it on the way to a dental operation, and my face is still too swollen to fiddle with!

K8Middleton · 09/09/2013 13:10

I wouldn't use half the stuff you have with a BB cream. It is supposed to be foundation, moisturiser and sunscreen all in one. I just apply mine over clean skin.

BFB is great as a primer if you need to create a smooth base onto which to apply foundation. You need to apply it more generously than moisturiser because you pat it on. Imagine you are trying to create a really, really thin mask all over your face onto which your make up will sit. If you remember peel off face masks that had to be applied as a fine film and not rubbed in or they'd form little balls you'll get the idea.

BFB is great for smoothing over fine lines (as mentioned up thread) and evening out uneven skin texture like dry flaky skin or peely patches from healing spots.

lollylaughs · 09/09/2013 14:46

K8middelton I didn't know that Blush. I always use moisturizer under bb cream.

You'll save a fortune now! Grin

I do put a teeny bit of moisturiser on if my skin is very dry or if I'm not planning to put my make up on for a bit.

DorsetLass · 09/09/2013 14:58

I sus bFB as a primer under foundation when I want make up to last a bit longer/look a bit fresher - key with it is to make sure skin completely dry/not just moisturised, d

DorsetLass · 09/09/2013 15:00

I use bFB as a primer under foundation when I want make up to last a bit longer/look a bit fresher - key with it is to make sure skin completely dry/not just moisturised, don't rub it in, just apply a thin layer, and apply foundation fairly quickly after. I don't think it would do much under BB cream, all to much. I find it really good - just too lazy to use everyday!

Bowlersarm · 09/09/2013 15:05

I like BFB.

I don't wear much make up but if I go out in the evening I use it and quite often will be complimented on 'looking well' or something like that, so I would say it works for me. i think it gives me a bit of a 'glow'. I just use it by itself.

Allthingspretty · 09/09/2013 18:28

I have tried the Clatins and much prefer the Elmis one

Hopefully · 09/09/2013 18:40

It definitely makes my skin look fresher and brighter, and also when I put proper foundation over the top (normally just use tinted moisturiser) it makes my foundation last way longer.

Chewbecca · 09/09/2013 19:26

I honestly cannot see any difference when I use BFB but I received 2 compliments once on my skin (which is not great) when I was wearing it so ever since I have used a thin layer under light foundation for special occasions. I still can't see it changes it at all and won't buy a new tube when it expires!

laeiou · 09/09/2013 20:16

Can bfb be used under mineral foundation, or only under liquid foundation ?

whippetwoman · 09/09/2013 20:58

I have it and wear it every now and then. I once wore it to perk myself up after a very bad hangover and the smell actually made me throw up! I kid you not though, later that day I got stopped outside Topshop in London about going to a casting, twas 36 at the time and am SO not model-like it's untrue. Must have been the flas balm. I wear it under foundation.
