Hi one of my best friends is getting married and is very into fashion. The wedding is going to be full of trendy young types. Can you look at the pic on my profile and let me know if it looks ok. I was thinking navy shoes, large statement necklace and clutch. I think I look wide dh says no. Any other suggestions gratefully received I have tried on around 30 dresses this weekend and am losing the plot!

I have to agree with sundaysimmons I think it's a nice day dress, but not really a dress for a wedding.

I think you could try orange shoes, bag, hat, that might oomph it up a bit????

Mamafratelli · 08/09/2013 18:44

Thanks everyone for the links I will have a look at them all.

Sorry I've forgotten who asked but it is Phase Eight.

If you want cobalt shoes I have these

Not too high so great for dancing. You may have to size up though- I did

SundaySimmons · 08/09/2013 18:49

I'd love this on you

Agree with Sunday. There are some interesting ones in the Karen Millen sale

Ooh yes Phase Eight

AphraBehn · 08/09/2013 18:56

There is a gorgeous blue Anglomania dress linked on one of the other threads. It strikes the exact balance between fashionista and understated.

Mamafratelli · 08/09/2013 18:59

Lots to think about thank you everyone.

Sorry but I am late 30's and I think that dress is frumpy as hell. I agree with other posters-you look as if you have to great hourglass figure which you should show off!

Sorry I cant do links but I think something like the Jezebel pencil dress from Vivien of Holloway would look amazing on your figure.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2013 19:03

If you all end up with the blue VW, I will be VERY jealous! :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2013 19:04

I agree that the dress looks nice but is more of a 'day dress' than an occasion dress.

I don't like the Vivien of Holloway ones, personally.

IsabelleRinging · 08/09/2013 19:06

I think the dress is a little 'covered' for a wedding at this time of year. I would go for something with short sleeves and with your lovely figure something a little more structured to show of your curves. love this www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/phase-eightKitty-Tapework-Dress/202232872

IsabelleRinging · 08/09/2013 19:13

Or how about this?

Mamafratelli · 08/09/2013 19:24

Agree I'm not a Vivienne of holloway fan, I would look like I was in fancy dress, just doesn't work on me for some reason. Will take a look at all the links, thanks.

Loving the dress Isabelle linked to. I think you'd look fab showing a bit more skin. Personally I'd keep the dress you have in your profile and wear it as a day dress.

Mamafratelli · 08/09/2013 19:34

Love the vw. More than I want to spend unfortunately.

SubliminalMassaging · 08/09/2013 19:37

Honestly? I love that dress and it suits you. It's exactly the kind of thing I'd choose and you have a similar figure to me. You will look great and you will feel confident and comfortable in it.

But it won't impress any young fashionistas. Grin

Mamafratelli · 08/09/2013 19:39

That's ok subliminal as long as it doesn't make them choke on their canapés Grin

As I said earlier I really think you look lovely in your photo and the dress suits you ... However some of those phase eight dresses in particular would look amazing on you, especially the first one linked ..

Rubybrazilianwax · 08/09/2013 22:33

I would go for this necklace and possibly these shoes although there are loads of blue shoes everywhere so it just depends on your budget and heel height. I personally would go for a bit of neon in my bag, this is fab!

Wearytiger · 08/09/2013 22:46

I think the dress is a bit safe and also, although it's a bit hard to tell from the photo, does it fall an inch or so below the knee? I think you have the same shape legs as me and a dress that stops actually on the knee is much more flattering ... A style consultant told me it adds ten years, I agree (I would not have believed this had she not made me try on a few to demonstrate). Obviously this applies only to my shape though!

To look more fashiony I generally go for contrast shoes or a contrast scarf or something. So if you do stick to the dress (it is a nice dress), I'd get fuschia shoes personally.

Mamafratelli · 09/09/2013 08:39

Right, I have ordered another dress and planning another quick trip to the shops thurs. Will post more pics to let the MN jury decide!
