Why does all my make up disappear after 2 hrs?

All make I wear seems to vanish after a couple of hrs. I've bought really expensive stuff and that still vanishes/
My skin is not really greasy either.

I've recently bought the Olay bb cream which looks fab when I put it on but again, vanishes withing a couple of hrs and I'm back to my dull, blotchy skin.

I would love a bb cream that I could slap on in the morning and for it to stay there all day.

Do you use a primer?

Beechview · 08/09/2013 16:46

er no. Primer? [ignorant of such things]

www.boots.com/en/Max-Factor-Face-Finity-All-Day-Flawless-3-in-1-Foundation_1279334/

I put this on early in the morning and it stays on until bedtime. No touch ups at all.

It is a primer, concealer and a foundation in one. I apply with a foundation brush. If I have any blemishes I use a concealer brush to apply an individual dot of the foundation to cover and blend the blemish.

It looks natural, doesn't cake and doesn't feel as if I am wearing a face full of make up, like Estée Lauder double wear or other full coverage/long lasting ones.

You can usually buy it cheaper on ebay.

Use a primer. Also I recommend MUA fixing spray on top - you can order online or from Superdrug. I really didn't think it would work (it's about 3 quid) but it really does.

Dry skin? Mine used to go like that when it was really dry

Crutchlow35 · 08/09/2013 17:26

Definitely try a primer. Smash of, Laura geller, Laura mercier, clarins all do them. Or the bobby brown moisturiser has it built in.

Crutchlow35 · 08/09/2013 17:26

They should be smashbox

Ifancyashandy · 08/09/2013 17:27

Mine disappears even with a primer....

Callmedreckly · 08/09/2013 17:29

Do you moisturise first? They say wait at least 10 mins before make up goes on, I think!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 08/09/2013 17:30

Micro organisms eat it!

Maybe some makes are more to their taste than others Grin

Beaverfeaver · 08/09/2013 19:04

I just moved over to face finity too as I was having the same issue as OP. its fab stuff and works

macthecatsmum · 08/09/2013 19:14

Boring i know, but exfoliate bout once a week, primer, moisturise after shower, dry hair, or dress but give it ten minutes, then do make up. use a make up brush-better than sponge, or fingertips. then brush over powder sparingly or setting spray. i have the same problem though with powder shadow-whilst shopping in Fenwicks off my tits on painkillers i ended up buying tom ford mousse shadow. fuck me it was expensive, but have used it nearly every day for two years and still lots left. dont know if the avon or maybelline equivalent is as good. oh and hot cloth cleanser if you dont want to exfoliate.

ToastedTeacakes · 08/09/2013 20:20

I don't think there's any secret to this, just most likely bad luck with the products. I certainly wouldn't advise going to any more expense with all sort of different treatments, etc.

Mine lasts all day and I don't do anything fancy to myself to prime it.
I just use a mix of Clinique (eyes), Tesco light foundation (babrara daly???) and bobby brown concealer.

What are you doing all day (work, home, outdoors or indoors?)...wondering if the environment might affect it?

ToastedTeacakes · 08/09/2013 20:23

BTW, I slap it on with my fingers. Dab the concealer with a brush, etc.

Also wondering if hormonal stuff or medication could affect it.
Could just be bad luck.
I used to have this issue with concealer, always wore off after an hour. Trial and error really.

ggirl · 08/09/2013 20:24

hairspray for yer face
really works !

DameFanny · 08/09/2013 20:25

Dust over with powder before you put your mascara on

Gillybobs · 08/09/2013 20:33

I have this issue too, it's a curse. Only long wear make lasts on me (even then it fades by afternoon) so Estee Lauder Doublewear (the light version is nice if you want lighter coverage) , benefit benetint for blusher, rimmel liquid eyeliner, bobbi Brown long wear cream eyeshadow. Anything else is useless

Beechview · 08/09/2013 21:13

Thanks for all the fab tips. I'll probably try them all. Something has to work.

I'm not generally a make up person but now I'm getting older, I need all the help I can get!

At the moment I'm on mat leave so generally at home but out and about a lot too but I don't think environment matters. No medication and I've always been like this. I've even had comments when people have seen pics of me at weddings referring to my lack of make up when the truth was I'd slapped it on but it faded so quickly.
