Hi,
After a recent holiday with trips to the beach and an imminent spa day I am feeling the need to shed my present cover-all tankini and replace with a bikini...
BUT...
I haven't worn a bikini for sometime (6-7 Years) and have NO clue where to start!
I am an 8-10 and looking for a strapless-with detachable halter strap (I think!) but it's more the bottom half that I am stuck on!
I have always been conscious of my hips and bottom and tend to wear 'short' style underwear and tankini bottoms - do these add to hip issues? Am I better off with straightforward bikini brief type bottoms?!
And when I know what style to get where do I start looking?
Help me please I am clueless!
Thank you in advance!

I'm hippy (not happy clappy hippy, I mean big-hipped), and I hate those shorts on me. Make my bum big, and my legs short. My other pet hate on me are those vintage-style pants like this. I feel my bum goes from legs to waist and is huge.
So something ordinary, not too big, not too small, no ties, no frills no fuss. Bit like this.
I find halter neck tops quite flattering. Seem to balance me.

Wow those pants are huge! They would do me no favours!!
I think you're right with standard bikini briefs though. Any other thoughts oh wise ones?

I just bought this CK set with the more substantial top bit - I'm a small boobed size 10 pear and it is so so flattering. Post kids I just don't want to do the string triangle jobs I used to wear - I'm still slim but want more structure and to feel held in whilst chasing toddlers around on the beach. Go for good brands and just try on lots - ASOS are great as free delivery and returns - I ordered loads and sent some not many back. Also got the Panache Cleo Tilly set which is super flattering, got a 30D which just fits amazingly.

In short - halter necks yes, bra sized tops yes, separately sized bottoms and no to shorts if big of bottom.
