Are these boots too 'mumsy'?

I like these, but don't want to look dowdy.

I mainly wear leggings, and tunic tops, and want an ankle boot that looks smartish, with a decent tread on them.

I don't like chelsea boots, even though they seem 'on trend' this year.

So if not these, what?

Who said "smart and comfy"? Never a good combo. It's what my mother aims for (so, yes, mumsy) Unless you are talking ballet pumps, of course.

Those suede ones are lovely, but I've given up on suede boots.

And I bought these already....so comfy and I love them!!!

Clarks are fab. And you should always mention if they have 20% off online as they'll honour it in store too.

I've got those ballet shoes but in 'normal' leopard print, not grey. I love them and have worn them so much.

I had those suede ones in tan nubuck last winter did they were fab, perfect with skinnies and dresses alike. The only downside is that heels were painted plastic and the paint rubbed off but it's not going to stop me getting them again once they come back in to stock in blue.

I like them op. I think everyone else's links (apart from the dr martins) are very mumsy and boring.

The original ones in the OP are mumsy frumpsy.

I have them.

They are comfy, they keep my feet dry on rainy days when I don't want to wear my nice ( suede shoes)

I wear them often on those dark days when it pisses down with rain and nobody looks at you anyway as everyone hurries along with their raincoats and brollies.

beth
I think you could get away with them. Depends on what you wear, and in grim weather everyone will be jell.

Report
GypsyFloss · 06/09/2013 19:45

Beth not stupidly wide. I've got skinny calves and hate boots that wobble about like wellies. They've got 3 buckles on them so you can wear them looser/ tighter as you wish. They' also chunky but not clumpy but quite generously sized so don't size up for socks. If BWISE doesn't work then try BTS13 for 20% off.

I think if you want to avoid mumsy, you need to avoid Clarks!

Fly London have lovely boots. The first doc martens linked to further up are v nice, and rocket dog and red or dead also do nice boots.

Fly are lovely but leak in wet weather.

They look like this year's version of my boots I bought last year Grin.

They are furry lined so lovely warm and comfy. But plain.

The official mum boot (I'm the person who defined it originally ) are black leather block heel square toe. From the mid 90s. Maybe foot glove.

Oooh, comfy. Grin I go for comfort over style in the foot department, and am currently sporting the world's ugliest sandals from Naot, but my excuse is that I have been on my feet all day.

these are my current boots. I also have a pair of Fly London boots that my mother would probably describe as "with it." Blush
