in today's Guardian. I hope not, I don't think I like any of them. Where have buttons gone this season?

The only decent ones are the duffle coat and the red Zara one... It seems the more expensive = the more hideous! And what is that ridiculousness: a coat with no sleeves?!

KosherBacon · 06/09/2013 16:04

Urch. What horrid shapes. So many boxy awful coats. The shapes make me think of Cos clothes- great if you are a size 8 and 5 foot 10, but no good for anybody else.

AndTwoBits · 06/09/2013 16:05

I quite like the grey Sandra one and the green top shop one. Some of them are ghastly. The leopard patterned one is fugly.

Zoe999 · 06/09/2013 16:06

They r all shapeless unflattering and very 80s

Stupidquestionsaplenty · 06/09/2013 16:06

I love e green duffel but the others could be picked up for pence in a local oxfam. What hideous styles.

CatAmongThePigeons · 06/09/2013 16:07

Sleeveless coat? Hmm Are they having a laugh

Boxy is 'in' apparently. I've yet to find someone who can pull off the boxy look. It's so unflattering.

SuperiorCat · 06/09/2013 16:09

Don't like many of them, green duffle is ok

Methe · 06/09/2013 16:13

Apart from the green duffle they look like something the queen would wear.

Stokey · 06/09/2013 16:35

Yes green suffle is nice - but an M&S coat for £350?? Insanity

buttercrumble · 06/09/2013 16:40

Oooh I love that checked one from Hobbs , but way out of my price range

Looby12 · 06/09/2013 16:45

Just what I was looking for, a sleeveless coat to wear with my sleeveless top in mid winter, get my pasty bingo wings out for all and sundry Wink

ThursdayLast · 06/09/2013 16:45

Can anyone explain the point of a sleeveless coat to me??

I do like the full length m&s for the look, but totally impractical!

Vintagebeads · 06/09/2013 17:05

The only one I liked was the M&S one until I saw the price Shock Marks need a reality check.

Many of them looked like the same coat in different colors.

Vintagebeads · 06/09/2013 17:08

I think the sleeveless coat is a nod to Victoria Beckham, who I would not exactly strike me as an outdoor girl.

ProtectiveMother · 06/09/2013 17:10

The 20 most horrible coats...

Aquelven · 06/09/2013 17:14

Ugghhhh
They're all the same shape!
I only like two, the Red Herring one which I wouldn't buy having had my colours done,& the navy hooded one which I love but can't afford.

bigTillyMint · 06/09/2013 17:14

Number 3 looks like something the Queen would wearGrin

And what's with the very deep V's? They won't be any good on a cold nightConfused

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 06/09/2013 17:15

That's the third article in a week with such a dedication to pink coats. Do the fashionistas sit around a table and brainstorm the seasons 'trend'?
I have no wish to look like Peppa Pig.

Flo56 · 06/09/2013 17:28

'Where have buttons gone this season?'
This. I can just about make allowances for the high street but the high end stores are just as bad. Dolce and Gabanna are asking £1,400 for a coat that's fastened with poppers and isn't even fully lined.
They are all taking the piss.

CairngormsClydesdale · 06/09/2013 17:28

I rather like the 2 M&S ones - aside the vile pink, I'm nearly 40, not 4.

The rest? Absolutely perfect for the average middle-aged frump of a Guardian reader.

noisytoys · 06/09/2013 17:32

I have the green duffle in blue. It's a lovely coat but it gets very heavy in the rain. I'm sure my nan would like most of the others (she's in her 80's)

NoComet · 06/09/2013 17:33

As a short size 16 pear, I need style and shape. Single breasted, nice notched lapels, nip in at the waist and top stitch the seams. Think the subtlest most gently curved, fit and flare dress.

I'd look like a felt covered, cube shaped footstool in those monstrosities!

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/09/2013 18:03

Goodness, it appears waists are out of fashion! As a busty hourglass I shall ignore all of those!

CecyHall · 06/09/2013 18:24

The pink ASOS one has my nan written all over it.

MarshaBrady · 06/09/2013 18:27

I think that list killed any notion that I might want a pale pink coat.
