I am going back to work next week after an extended maternity leave and desperately need to update my make up bag starting with my foundation. I am in my late 30s and need something that would last all day but won't look dry or caked. Any recommendations??

My favourites are Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, MAC Face and Body, Chanel Vitalumiere and almost any Bobbi Brown, depending on skin type.

a real cheapy is the borjois stuff healthy mix

YSL Touché Eclat foundation - £27 but fab. Or Bourjois Healthy Mix is about £11 and also v good.

Yes to the YSL foundation, it's fabulous and stays put all day

for a cheaper alternative that my dd says is as good (she's got both) is l'oreal true match liquid foundation

Botanics BB cream is amazing and cheap. Lasts all day and slightly more coverage than a tinted moisturiser.

YSL and mac sound fab! Thanks!

MAC Face and Body is like magic. You can do a really thin layer that's practically tinted moisturiser and then if you keep blending it it thickens itself. Bloody clever stuff!

How about Estée Lauder double wear light? Is that any good?

I didn't like it on me but I know others rave about it. Personally if I was going to get an EL one I'd get the regular DW and then mix it with moisturiser for lighter days.
