Will this look crap?

I saw a classic good quailty thick lambswool cardi in navy in the charity shop today, looked new, simple crew neck, finishes at hip, £3. Think Nigella twinset type cardi. The make was Cotswold which looking online is very old ladyish.

But...it had truly hideous old lady buttons. Was thinking of getting it but finding some nice buttons for it, maybe mother of pearl, but couldn't decide whether I've lost the plot or not. Also where to buy buttons online if I do buy it.

I'm 40ish and tend to wear classic, rather than up to the minute fashion.

Advice? And be brutal honest.

It could be really nice but it needs to look like new, good shape and no bobbles. Maybe if you are not sure it's best not to bother. Try it again and only get it if it looks good on you. Button change might be good but can cost quite a bit and still not work if the cardi isn't right to begin with.

Thanks for answering. It's definitely new, I didn't put it on as there's no changing room! Was a classic, slightly boxy shape.

For £3 a navy cardigan sounds like a good bet. Can't go wrong.

Ok I'll go for it, it's the sort of thing Boden sells for £70, actually nicer cause it's thicker. I am such a tightwadGrin

Go for it!

I'm always customising charity shop finds. You should see what I did with the Per Una monstrosity I bought recently.

Buttons can be bought online (try eBay), or at places like Hobbycraft, John Lewis, fabric shops.....
