Denim jacket fans

I was so annoyed with myself for getting rid of my denim jacket that I had a few years (I did a 'clean out' of things I didn't wear in a couple of years and now regret some things I got rid of..)

So I have bought new cropped one and I love it. It fits well and isn't too dark (or too light).

So, I just need some advise on how to wear it ...

If you are wearing it with trousers should you button a couple of the bottom buttons or should it only be worn open?

Sleeves rolled to 3/4 or left down? I realize this is weather dependant but just wondering style wise..

Wearing with black fitted trousers and black vest top today. Will wear with some maxi dresses when it heats up a bit (going into spring now). Looking to get some Jeep-like cargo style trousers as well as I only have blue jeans so wont wear them together.

Oh and I am a little over 40, so im sure I have broken a rule there anyway, but what the hell.... I reckon I can still pull it off Grin.

Never button it up!

So I was told, although I was tempted it won't look right.

Sleeves weather dependant but they will look great folded or rolled.

Wear with anything except blue jeans.

Which leads DD1(15) to the question -
If my 12 yearold DSIS tells me it's a fashion no no to wear my denim jacket with my jeans, what should I wear?

DD1s denim jacket is a very light Oasis one and her jeans are really dark, so personally I think it looks fine. But the resident fashionister doesn't approve.

I think if the jeans are blue and the jacket is blue then I wouldn't. But if they are coloured or black jeans I think the resident fashionista may approve Grin.

Yes, but what is the alternative, other than a hoodie or a cardigan.

The OP regretted throwing out her denim jacket because it was so useful.

I regret that at 45 and mostly wearing jeans, I don't think I could get away with one (I'm a size 16, short pear, with a huge arse).

I wear mine over dresses or top and shorts. Not with denim bottoms I can't pull that off.

Mine's an ancient gap one, collarless and cropped and too small to do up, so always worn open.
