Converse or cheap lookalikes?

I got paid today and have £100 until the end of Sept (all bills/travel etc paid) and I desperately need new casual shoes. We're going on holiday next week and I need something to walk round in all day.

my current m&s converse lookalikes are full of holes after 4 months of wear. So do I splash out on the real deal or do I buy another pair of lookalikes (£7 in primark) and probably have to replace them again in a month or two?

I like the slim soled converse not the standard ones. they're about £45. I'm also trying to save for a decent pair of winter boots...decisions!

New look do some decent look a likes that last ok. Mine are over six months old and are only just wearing through and I have worn them quite a lot and done a fair amount of walking in them

Ds brought some donnay converse lookalikes from sports direct last summer. They have actually lasted longer and been worn more than his real converse. They still have them this year. I thinj they are 6 or 7.

I've just had a look at new Look and they do have some nice ones. just worried about the quality aspect and whether it's a false economy to keep buying cheapies.

Some people say converse last for years, I got 6 months out of a pair though and haven't bought any since. All the ones a see look battered and develop holes on the side where the foot bends quite quickly.

I keep looking at these. There are three different colours.

My DC wear converse/vans etc and these do get worn out quickly if worn daily...I make do with fakes and don't have a problem but then I don't wear these to death.

Go for Converse. I find they do last really well and are just a classic. I've just searched for Converse slim on Amazon and if you search the options there are good deals. I've just found some red ones in a size 4.5 for £28 free delivery. Cloggs also have good selection, codes for discounts on voucher sites and cash back via Quidco.

I bought some pier one from zalando online and have worn them all summer. Paid about a rennet for them.

theredhen · 28/08/2013 20:02

I got some imitations from next which are wearing well

ViviDeBeauvoir · 28/08/2013 20:09

There are some skechers ones I've been looking at on M and m direct

black ones £14.99

taupe ones £9.99

So a fairly decent make for cheap price!
I have converse too and although I love them I wouldn't buy them if you're skint.

ViviDeBeauvoir · 28/08/2013 20:12

ahem taupe

BlueStones · 28/08/2013 20:50

I've bought Converse twice, and both pairs fell apart within six months. I've found many imitation brands last longer; I won't spend money on the real thing again.

pizzaqueen · 28/08/2013 21:27

thanks! I don't feel so bad about getting cheaper pairs now. Lets me save up for some good boots, dont want to scrimp on those.
