Statement jewellery

I'm after a really great 'statement' necklace. I love scarves, but want to try to collect a few pieces of fashion jewellery that I can wear for going out for dinner etc to jazz outfits up a bit.

Anybody have any ideas or links. Up to about £80.

Don't know if this link will work...

Butler and Wilson do some fabulous pieces Smile

mrspaddy · 28/08/2013 11:27

The Zara one is gorgeous! I would be reluctant to spend 80 on one piece and try and get a couple of nice pieces.

MissDD1971 · 28/08/2013 16:58

You can get nice ones eg in Zara.

Also H&M Hennes are doing a new range of statement necklaces and it's daft imo to spend £80 when you can spend less and get a few knock out pieces.

also, check out vintage/faux (forgetting the word for it now...) stuff - I've got some lovely one off statement vintage pieces.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/08/2013 16:59

I got a brilliant one in Dotty P's of all places. Agree that with costume jewellery, I'd rather have four cheaper ones than one £80 one.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/08/2013 16:59

Cos have nice necklaces.

Why not look up a jewellery designer? I make costume jewellery as started i couldnt find anything i liked in the shops. it takes a long time to learn how to do it but you could get something truly unique for that sort of money and have input into designing it. google is your friend :)

hermioneweasley - I saw the Zara one you linked to on my resident train station fashionista this morning. looks nice IRL.

carrie74 · 29/08/2013 14:21

I wear quite a lot of statement jewellery for work. Places I look:

Zara, H&M, Banana Republic, J Crew, Stella & Dot (ebay good for this for better prices).

bunnymother · 29/08/2013 14:25

I would buy that Zara one (its lovely and weighty IRL), or another Zara one, and also one from the TopShop boutique range.

AngryFeet · 29/08/2013 14:42

Phase Eight often have some nice ones too

Umlauf · 29/08/2013 14:48

I love the ones on Atterley Road at the moment. see here

I think statement jewellery can often look cheap so you have to be careful!

KateyJop · 29/08/2013 16:22

Why costume? At that price you can find some fabulous real handmade jewellery which will last from an artisan jeweller

Google for example ?handmade pearl jewellery? or ?handmade gemstone jewellery? ? and look at least all the first page at all the websites - you?ll find some real ?gems? - the shops are very limited in choice and so overpriced! And artisans will make it to fit you and change clasp you hate, change anything.

Don?t know why anyone buys mass produced jewellery from shops - when you pay £80 you can guarantee the thing cost less than a fiver to make.

I actually make jewellery including statement jewellery. Have a look if it is of interest!
