I've just turned 40. I am almost back to a size 12 and I am 5'10". Could I wear them?? I am strangely hankering after a pair.

I am just sending a pair of leather fronted ones back to M and S- Autograph. I am a size 12 but quite pear shaped, I have dropped a dress size through exercise so I am a slightly smaller pear. Bet they would look fab on you at 5 10 and a size 12. £99. They are very nice, with a ponte (fashion bs word :) back.

funnily enough I have also returned a leather skirt as the PVC one from next looked much better, so I am going to try their faux leather trousers. Having tried on lots of leather skirts and trousers, sometimes the faux version looks better and are comfier.

Anyway your original question- you are NOT too old, no way!

If you are then I must be, nearly (blench) 43 !

Well done on the slim down- make the most of it!!! :)

I would link but I am hopeless at it.

Excellent. Grin Thank you Thanks

Googling leather trousers and trying to sell the idea to DH. I have fallen for a pair of Allsaints ones. £400 seems a lot.

Do Allsaints come up really small??

Last year (at 41) I had a pair of skintight not leather but PVC trousers from H&M which I wore a lot over Christmas party period.

I loved them. I am a 10/12 but barely 5'8", so I'd guess you would look fab OP as you're taller.

I always think of leather trousers as being an older persons thing for some reason. I really like them.

If it suits you and you look good in them, then you're never too old for anything. I have a pair of leather trousers that I will be wearing this autumn winter. Just saw some leather leggings too. I am 40.

dexter73 · 28/08/2013 07:42

Too true Travelincolour!

PeriodMath · 28/08/2013 07:43

Ha, leather trousers always put me in mind of Ross from Friends Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/08/2013 07:45

I like them, especially when wore with cashmere and dressed down.

Just avoid channeling Miley Cyrus and you'll look great

MrsFlorrick · 28/08/2013 08:09

You've all encouraged me. I am now officially on the hunt for leather trousers. GrinThanks

I really like the look of leather leggings - the less embellishment the better. If you're even looking at the £400 mark, make sure you check Matches (still some sale stuff available) as well as the Outnet. And Baukjen had some nice leather leggings last season which are prob reduced now.

Not too old.

strokey · 28/08/2013 08:25

I don't think your age is a problem, but Im not sure if size 12 is slim enough for leather trousers.. You are quite tall though.. I think you need to have very good legs. No thunder thighs.

dexter73 · 28/08/2013 08:31

5'10" and a size 12 - your legs will look amazing!

dexter73 · 28/08/2013 08:33

I love these dark green leggings.

ilikeitreal · 28/08/2013 08:35

Go for it - I work with a lot of 'real' ladies - if you have the confidence to wear a strong look, fantastic, maybe just think about toning the top half down with an oversized sweater or tailored man's style jacket to balance the look.
