children's shoes for high instep.

Both my children have v high insteps.

I spent a frustrating afternoon trying to find a pair of shoes for either of them that fitted. Every pair dd tried on were "too tight" across the foot. If she went up two sizes they were OK, but then she had lots of empty space where her toes should be.

She was wearing thick tights, but she wears thick tights most of the winter, so needs shoes that will fit with them.

Any advice on brands or styles we could try? Am a bit at my wit's end.

DD1 has a very high instep but we do just about manage to get shoes in Clarks. She has very little choice though. But I guess that was one of the places you tried. It sucks, there are so many lovely shoes that she can't wear.

dd1 has a wide foot / high instep she managed to get some strtrite ones this year.

Have you got an independent shoe nearby? that was my first port of call. (I've also ordered several from amazon and then returned what didn't fit.)

Another vote for Startrite - expensive but worth it! My dd has a high instep along with a multitude of other foot difficulties and we can usually find a pair of startrite to fit whereas Clarks and most other makes are a complete no no.

My ds has a very high instep (and wide feet) - independant shoe shops which stocked brands like Ecco have always been great for us. Geox work really well too.

DD has a very high instep and Startrite are the only shoes that we can get to fit. We also have to get a t-bar as the Mary-Jane style never fit without a bulge over the top.

Startrite must make fantastic shoes Smile

My DS is flat footed & has hypermobility and startrite are fantastic on him.
DD has nothing wrong with her feet and startrite were the best fit from clarks, hush puppies, geox & of course startrite.

Bit more expensive but well worth it.

Thanks, will try to find start rite ones when we are near john lewis next week. Don't mind if they are expensive, just want the stupid things to fit properly!

There is a brand of shoes called See Kai Run, they are the only shoes my daughter with very deep feet can fit into!
