But, say, you are on maternity leave and think twice about spending £60 on a top these days, where do you shop?!

eBay! I have to really love it to pay full price for it nowadays.

GeorginaWorsley · 21/08/2013 22:40

I like them but agree re price.
You can find them on ebay.
House of Fraser do 'label lab' which is similar.

GeorginaWorsley · 21/08/2013 22:44

Also Ilike
Some Phase Eight but not mother of bride stuff
Occasional Great Plains,French Connection
High street shops such as Topshop,Warehouse,Dorothy Perkins sometimes have tge 'drapey' stuffMint Velvet do but for less £££

CheeseAndFriedMushrooms · 21/08/2013 23:26

I do trawl eBay but some of the stuff is nearly full price anyway! I like warehouse and FC too, DP I find the quality not so good. Will look at Label Lab too.

i have a lovely mint velvet dress. I reckon I could run up a copy within an evening the tunic style is so simple. Can you sew?

FumblesandFrolics · 22/08/2013 06:36

Oops, just realised that made no sense - should have read 'hate to pay full price for anything'

CheeseAndFriedMushrooms · 23/08/2013 07:36

Can sew to some degree but wouldn't have the time these days..... I've noticed even their sales prices seem to be a notional £20off rather than 50%....

Their prices are absolutely ridiculous this season, especially since most tops are just polyester Sad Admired lots of items last week but bought nothing as just too ££££ - and i earn a reasonably good wage!! Its just too dear for what it actually is.

Nothing more constructive to add, sorry.

Hopasholic · 23/08/2013 09:40

Re mint velvet, they have many items which are the exact same stock as last year Hmm

Fair enough for jeans I suppose but not for tops/jumpers. I bought a button back jumper and it's there again this year.

MrsDavidBowie · 23/08/2013 12:11

I do like MV but it's the same stuff in a slightly different shade of grey every season.

I have a lovely silk tunic from there, and it's there again this year with slightly different smudges on it. Would love the top again but in a more vibrant colour.
I've bought some nice bits from Phase 8 this season...20% off voucher in W and Home this month.

Love their bags...got one in the sale this summer.

honestly, if you sew at all it's worth a go.

i bought the mint velvet lea dress

the pattern is almost identical to the simple 2 piece pattern for the Anda dress downloadable pattern. Honestly, a front, a back and some elastic. piece of.
