I'm off on my hols on Saturday and in an attempt to disguise my mummy tummy and take the edge off my dayglo skin I'm going for a spray tan tomorrow afternoon.

I would like to know whether I should moisturise just before I go or do it in the morning, if at all? I've heard that moisturiser can stop it from taking.

I've fake tanned myself a lot but this is only my second professional spray tan- the first was a disaster! Any other tips for stopping it being a streaky mess would be most welcome, I've already been scrubbing and moisturising in preparation over the last couple of days.

Do not moisturise before your appointment but I always do the soles of my feet and the palms of my hands with a good thick moisturizer before tanning a thin layer on any dry bits such as elbows and knees works well too.

A pro spray tan shouldn't be a disaster so I hope you're going to a different sprayer this time!

My first spray tan was a few years ago and I've since moved towns so therefore (thankfully) seeing a different sprayer! I'm not sure what happened with the last one- the tan was far too dark orange for my colouring and I had drip marks on my hands and feet! It was awful but maybe she was having an off day.

Fingers crossed that tomorrow's will be fine. Thanks for your advice gaggia, I will hold off the moisturising tomorrow.
