Just that really. Pref not trainers or walking boots, but something that looks nice and won't give me blisters! Thank you. Smile

Have you tried the Ecco site?

How coincidental, I am going to Rome in September and need the same thing.

MrsGSR · 21/08/2013 15:47

I don't have any suggestions, but when I went to Rome a few years back I remember it being really dusty, my sandles and feet were filthy by the end of each day! It might be good to buy shoes you can wipe clean, or take loads of wet wipes.

Juustanothermnetter · 21/08/2013 15:51

Just back from Rome last week - agree your feet get filthy! I bought 2 pairs ballet flats from h&m (the gold ones are totally trashed). I wouldn't spend much money tbh as they will be well worn in no time.

Enjoy I adore Rome :)

We go to Rome for a couple of weeks or more every year.

I personally wouldn't do it in ballet flats because the soles aren't thick enough to cope with the cobblestones, IMO. They are so hard and there's so much walking to be done there that anything at all flimsy can shred your feet. Compeeds all over aren't a good look.

This year I wore Fitflop sandals - not the toe post ones, but the more citified looking Via style, in black suede, which I think is on sale at the moment.

I had some lighter, pretty sandals but kept them for short walks in the evening. I also had a pair of Geox 'Tod's lookalike' loafers in case of rain. Also very comfortable when I walked round Milan in them all day.

I would choose something like Mephisto or Birkies.

WildThongsHeartString · 21/08/2013 16:17

Not everyone's cup of tea but I am loyal to my Riekers. I can't wear shoes with toe posts and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever had, (bought for tramping around Pisa.)

hermioneweasley · 21/08/2013 17:14

I walked for miles in Rome in my toe post fit flops. Not very stylish though.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 21/08/2013 17:52

I walked for miles in Rome and Venice in my merrell walking sandals. Yes my feet got dirty but I was comfy.

Howstricks · 23/08/2013 07:16

Thanks..I hadn't thought about my feet getting dirty. I'll run that past dd as well..she lives in her Converse and may well want an alternative.

Hi. I saw some nice walking sandals on someone on holiday. The unique thing was that they were a nice pair tan suede so didn't look all
Clumpy. Ill try and find similar

HarryandJess · 23/08/2013 07:34

I swear by my Camper shoes for comfort/style. Very jealous as I would love to be jetting off to Rome. My favourite ever city - enjoy!
