AIBU to have gone off the 'hair doughnut' style? Is it trashy now?

I really liked the hair doughnut style as it was a simple and easy way to create a glamorous look and great for me as I have thin/ frizzy hair so need to wear it up. It's also a great way for me to disguise the fact that I don't have much hair!

However recently I have seen a few people with 'hair doughnut' hair and thought they looked really trashy (not just because of the hair doughnut, just the overall look).

What's your view on the hair doughnut? Trashy or glam?

I'm totally over the doughnut bun. A smaller messy bun still looks ok, I think? I hope?

Is it very wrong of me to say that there is a Longchamps bag in those Peru pictures?

(I'm feeling really, really guilty for having posted this ...)

Messy side/back bun is fine but massive sleek bun on top of the head looks like a cottage loaf!!

The spiral pins just screw from the outside into the middle of the bun, I use 3, equally spaced around the bun. They go into or under a doughnut. If using them without one the ends go into one another and lock in. They hold a lot more hair a lot better than kirbigrips.

I don't get spiral pins. Old fashioned hair pins work just fine for securing ordinary ballet buns and stray ends on doughnut buns.

Proper hairpins. Normal people call bobby pins hair grips. DD2 calls them Bobby pins, because she watches cute girls hairstyles on Utube and they are American.

Nice, not trashy doughnut bun, at back of head, hair not tightly scraped back

Did anyone else see the tweet about the DM comments re. drug smuggling girl, asking where the black jacket was from? It was Zara TRF and the woman who commented managed to buy it.

Must admit it made me laugh.

Proper hair pins work perfectly well but spiral pins hold a lot more hair and you can shake your head about like a maniac and your hair stays put.

I stopped doing buns a year ago when I chopped my hair up to long bob length. Used to love a big messy bun, still miss it some days! Not with a donut or right on top of the head though, that's always looked odd.

Proper hair grips pop out again in my hair, which is unruly, bouncy and layered, also only just long enough for a bun, so I have lots of loose ends and end up using about 10 of them. Spiral pins do the job much better for me.

I have my hair in a doughnut bun today and I couldn't give two hoots if anyone thinks it's trashy.

I don't wear it on top of my head though and I can't seem to get it very big, despite trying. I think a sock bun works better for getting it big.
