What can I do in a month?

I have a month until a big work party and I am a big fat flump. :( I know I have probably left it too late to do much but I want to do as much as I can.

I am always the shy one who hides in the corner and RUNS when a camera appears.

How much weight could I lose in that time? Nothing health damaging! I am 5'3 and nearly 13 stone.

Beauty wise I am pasty pale and a bit of a scruff to be honest.

I can't vouch for it myself but I've heard a lot of good things about low carbing for weight loss.

As for everything else, get some decent body moisutriser and a body brush and use them, EVERY DAY. Go to a make up counter, ask for a make over and pick out maybe on or two things, if you can afford them, to enhance your natural look. Again if you can afford it, get a haircut not too long before the party that you can easily style/maintain at home, maybe a colour if your budget stretches far enough, ifnot, just a trim and tidy up will make you look and feel better.

Either pick an existing outfit and go for new accessories or if budget allows, wait until the week before the party to see if you lose any weight and pick something new that makes you feel FABULOUS. Nice shoes, a pretty bag and you'll be all set Smile

I second the low carb idea, combines with 30 Day Shred (dvd or youtube).

Get your hair done just before the party so it's as good as it gets. Plus a manicure.

What are you going to wear?

JennySense · 20/08/2013 21:29

If you followed Cambridge you would lose a stone in that time - but its a lot of pressure to put yourself under imho for just one night. I second the advice above :)

It is supposed to be a posh dress party - like prom dress I think and some are going in floor length gowns. Another panic entirely!

I just don't have a good feature to play up = fat arms, huge stomach, blobby thighs. Need to do a cover up job. Seems crazy to spend lots of money (that I don't have) on a dress I will never wear again. I don't go to fancy parties!

Do you have an old dress that would be suitable? Could you hire one? Borrow from a friend?

What style do you like? New Look have lots of formal maxis and prom dresses like this.

Get spanx or m&s equivalent to hold tummy and thighs in.

That dress is nice. :)

I just want to do what ever I can to make improvements in the next month! It isn't long I know but I want it to be a kickstart as I have a lot of weight to lose.

Second the Shred / controlled diet. I've just completed level 1 of Shred and have lost 3 inches from my waist and 2 from my hips in ten days. I'm hoping for another couple off each by the end of the month. It's bloody hard but worth it for the results. Everywhere is tighter and feels better.

MelanieCheeks · 21/08/2013 07:14

I'll third the low-carb-and-30DS as your most do-able approach. And if you're going to have bare arms then throw in some extra arm excercises (you can do bicep curls with tins of soup etc).

If you don't like being pale, get a spray tan the day before to give you a nice sunkissed glow.

TK Maxx have lots of long, glam dresses for not much money - might be worth a look in there.

SundaySimmons · 21/08/2013 09:15

Your upper body, face and hair are the most on show as chances are you will be sitting down a lot.

Get your hair done, wear a nice necklace as a focal point. Perhaps pearl drops or similar gentle whitening toothpaste. Use a gradual tan daily to give you a glow.

Make sure your nails look nice and dress in clothes and shoes you feel comfortable in or you will feel awkward and it will show.

OOhhh hello ladies, have just stumbled over this (getting married 1st November) and there is some great advice here.
Can I just ask though, Jennysense what or who is Cambridge and how do I follow them?
Thank you!
