What do you wear for an Evening Wedding Reception?

I don't have a clue. There is nothing to say what kind of dress is required on the invitation. Also, I'm short and fat. I HATE clothes shopping and I don't have any dress shoes. Any kind of ideas or styles as to what I should be looking for? I need all the help I can get, really.

What's your size/budget/colouring?

Any parts you want to cover/show off?

I don't really have a budget, but prefer to spend as little as possible. I am pretty cheap, my husband would rather me buy something nice. I'm a size 14/16. I have fairly pale skin, blue eyes, long brown hair. I tend to dress modestly, but I don't mind showing a bit of clevage. I would like it to have sleeves, any kind of sleeve and would probably like a cardigan or something to go with it. The part I like to be hidden the most is my stomach, but below my belly button, if you see what I mean?

Thank you for helping, am fairly useless at looking put together. Tend to look very scruffy.

Cocktail dress always works. Usually just above knee-length. Bonus if you can get an empire/wrap dress. Darker colours would probably be best-maybe an emerald green?

How about something like this?

They used to do the same dress in cocktail length too, and in other colours, so perhaps worth a browse.

meditrina · 20/08/2013 15:50

Sorry, that doesn't meet the 'with sleeves' requirement, but you might find a wrap, beaded jacket/little cardie that would give you an arms covered option.

Meditrina, that counts as sleeves to me, when I said with sleeves, I suppose I just meant something that would cover bra straps? I guess I meant no strapless. That is a beautiful dress by the way.
