What shampoo and conditioner do you use?

And what's your hair like please?

I'm looking for inspiration. I've been using Johnson's baby for years (I used to struggle to find something that didn't set my eczema off. It's been gone for years, but I liked how my hair looked with those, so just kept using them). Anyway, they've stopped making the pink conditioner, and I really don't like the replacement. So I thought I was probably too old to use baby shampoo I'd try something completely different.

Also, I'm nosy and like to know what other people use, and this is an excellent excuse for it Grin

L'Oreal Elvive for coloured hair - shampoo and conditioner

itsonlysubterfuge · 20/08/2013 14:07

I have very long (down to my waist),curly, thin hair. I use whatever I can find. Right now the blue herbal essence one. My hair is thin and frizzy. So I can't offer any great suggestions.

Allthingspretty · 20/08/2013 15:14

Loreal elvive shampoo
Aveda conditioner

cressetmama · 20/08/2013 15:59

Either whatever smells nice for curly hair in huge containers from TK Maxx, or Klorane (which I've found a good alternative to Aveda) and which is often on a French pharmacy brand special offer from Escentual.

Fozzleyplum · 20/08/2013 21:47

I have "difficult" hair. It's thick, not coloured and I wear it in a shortish bob. It's very wavy, and frizzy, so I have to blow dry it properly to avoid looking like the bus driver out of South Park.

I have tried all sorts of shampoo and conditioner, from the £15 a bottle variety downwards. The most effective shampoos and conditioners I've used recently have come from the pound shop. Current favourites are Schwarzkopf and Revlon Flex. I also use a bit of John Frieda serum to protect it from blow-drying.

My hairdresser is sceptical about the claims made on behalf of expensive shampoos, as many brands have the same ingredients; the packaging and advertising affects the price.

I've also found that I get the best results if I use a moisturising shampoo for dry hair, but water it down in my palm before use, followed by a less heavy conditioner for normal hair, but avoid the roots .

Thecurlywurlymum · 20/08/2013 21:53

I use the curl conscious range from Bumble and Bumble. Stops me looking like Don King on a bad day. I have blonde hi lighted curly hair and have recently had it cut into a bob.

VerySmallSqueak · 20/08/2013 21:57

I have long thick fine hair which tends to irritation if I am not careful.
I have been using dr.organics aloe vera shampoo and faith in nature jojoba conditioner and have been really pleased with how my scalp has calmed.

InMyShreddies · 20/08/2013 22:01

The new Tresemme one - Platinum strength. Crammed full of silicones, but is just amazing on my bleached haystack of long hair, and doesn't seem to build up unlike Aussie ones. And Kerastase Masquintense weekly and coconut oil overnight mask weekly.

permaquandry · 20/08/2013 22:05

I have used tonnes and tonnes of high end brands, only one I get on with is Redken. Saying that, I now only use Aussie Mega. Think it's just as good and much cheaper. I also use the leave in spray (been using the Long one but will go back to the Miracle one) after every wash and the 3 minute miracle mask once a week.

LadyMilfordHaven · 20/08/2013 22:06

the best ( notieceable ) for me is aveda

permaquandry · 20/08/2013 22:06

Sorry, forgot to say I have dead straight, below-shoulder length fine hair, prone to static (have never dyed it but is brown/blonde and reddish).

PoppyWearer · 20/08/2013 22:09

I either use v.expensive L'Oreal Professionnel stuff, or Aussie.

Aussie is the only lower-priced brand my (v.good) hairdresser will recommend.

SupermansBigRedPants · 20/08/2013 22:12

The pink cheryl cole one Hmm is it L'Oréal? It's in a pink bottle and cheryl Cole advertised/es it. My hair is in fab condition, another 6 week hair cutter here.

BetsyBell · 20/08/2013 22:17

Aussie shampoo and 3 minute miracle conditioner - makes my hair really shiny, clean and soft but without build up. I haven't had to use a hairdryer on it all summer as it just goes lovely without any effort after using it.

I much prefer it to the Charles Worthington & John Frieda type range of products. Though it is as nice as Redken but much easier to get hold of and cheaper.

Cheaper type products are usually fine for a few weeks but then my hair starts looking limp.

I have medium length slightly wavy hair.

moondog · 20/08/2013 22:18

The very cheapest I can find. Hair is dead and anyone trying to tell you expensive stuff makes a difference is talking nonsense.

Perplexing · 20/08/2013 22:20

I think what shampoo you use is less important than changing it often! I find my hair can get 'build up' otherwise. Having said that, I am using John Frieda 'everlasting blonde' at the moment which seems quite good. Dove hair therapy colour radiance conditioner / Aveda Damage therapy conditioner.

Perplexing · 20/08/2013 22:22

...sorry forgot to state my hair type - dry, medium texture, highlighted and wavy.

Shlurpbop · 20/08/2013 22:23

Alberto Balsam. Cheap and fab! Choose it over all other, more expensive brands :)

Shlurpbop · 20/08/2013 22:24

Forgot to say...highlighted with bleach hair, usually greasy after two days

ElBombero · 20/08/2013 22:24

For eczema try body shops ginger shampoo amazing, keeps my skin at bay and leaves hair shiny

SupermansBigRedPants · 20/08/2013 22:32

Oops forgot hair type - shoulder length layered, medium thick, curly, dyed brown.

superlambanana · 20/08/2013 23:50

I love Aussie, though the thing that has finally sorted my hair out has been moving to a soft water area!

Very fine, thin, blondish shoulder length hair with a slight wave.

peasandlove · 21/08/2013 10:42

i used a kiehls conditioner, all theirs are very good on my dyed blonde hair. sometimes use a kiehls shampoo or a john frieda one or most recently a Dove one

Hopefully · 21/08/2013 11:21

I've tried about a million different brands, and I forgot to take mine to SILs a while ago and used her £1 Alberto Balsam. I am a convert, have been using it for a couple of months now and my hairdresser actually asked what I was using as my hair looks so good now! I have really sensitive skin and it's also the only cheap shampoo I've found that doesn't set it off.

MyBoysAreFab · 23/08/2013 10:54

After reading this thread, and needing shampoo, I bought Aussie shampoo and conditioner and the 3 minute miracle. Used it for the first time today and my short hair feels luvverly and soft, so would definitely recommend it.
