Ruined shoes?

I wore a pair of very beautiful silver fabric-covered shoes to a wedding yesterday. Unfortunately the reception was in the middle of a very muddy field so the heels are now caked in mud.

I've left it to dry and knocked off as much as I can, but is there any way of getting rid of the mud stains? I'm scared to put them in water but is that what I should do? They were the most expensive things I have ever put on my feet and were intended for a long life of crippling me at functions.

Cannot help from any experience but you are doing the right thing askig rather than just attempting yourself and making it worse.

Did you buy from a specialist shop? We're they handmade ? could you go back to maker/shop for advice.

It may be possible to just get heels recovered ?

Hoping someone helpful ones along soon for you.

TBH the longer you leave it the harder it will be to remove stains.
I'd use a clean toothbrush and some mild detergent - not one with bio in it- and see if you can gently scrub to remove.
I think the only other option would be something like a dry powder cleaner, you used to be able to buy something to clean suede that you sprayed on, left to dry then brushed off- bit like dry shampoo.

I would use a damp cloth and mild detergent but dry with a hair drier otherwise you will get water marks . Mud is a bugger to get off though.

Thanks all. Had a gentle go with a cloth and some soapy water but they're still very stained. Boo. Should have done what my sister did and stomped through the field barefoot... I'll try the supplier next.
