Brogues with skirts?

Fancy the idea of wearing flat brogues with opaques and skirts or dresses this autumn. Wear lots of grey, navy and some black. I like the patent black clarks brogues but think grey might go better with the my grey and navy outfits. Anyone seen any?

Or am I completely mad to even consider flat brogues?

Clarks do some nice brogues. Have a look here

totallylost · 17/08/2013 15:56

Thanks Venus was the Clarks Hamble Oak I liked in the black patent www.clarks.co.uk/p/20350649

I think the pairs without laces will look better.

totallylost · 17/08/2013 16:02

like these? www.clarks.co.uk/p/20355398 they look like they forgot to put the laces in. Originally though loafers rather than brogues.

I think they'd only work with knee-length skirts or shorter, what d'you reckon?

totallylost · 17/08/2013 16:08

Yes was thinking knee length or just above and quite fitted.

I think they work with maxis too.

Twinklestein · 17/08/2013 16:17

I just got some brogues with a heel.

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 17/08/2013 16:20

Knee length with a straight skirt.

totallylost · 17/08/2013 16:22

I do have some black brogues with a heel that I have had for years and do wear them with dresses.

Getting old and want comfy shoes Sad but don't want to look like a granny.

I have some brogues - wear them with all lengths of skirts.

ThePigOfHappiness · 17/08/2013 16:24

I wear brogues all the time with skater style skirts. I'm pretty short though so my skirts are short too.
I have an oxblood pair from Aldo that go with pretty much every colour.
these though I don't think I paid that much for them

totallylost · 17/08/2013 16:27

Thanks for all the comments - at least no-one is saying "what on earth are you thinking no no no!"

Might order some for home delivery and try them on with some different outfits.

I'd never thought of brogues with anything other than trousers then I saw a bright blue wrap dress with tan brogues online and it looked amazing - I was looking at some nice new Clarks ones today too...

littlemisswise · 17/08/2013 17:08

I've got 2 pairs of brogues I wear with skirts. Both pairs are the same style from Dune, one pair is tan with black patent toes and heels, the other pair is black patent.

I tend to wear knee or above knee length skirts with them.

ThePigOfHappiness · 17/08/2013 17:14

Actually I struggle to wear brogues with trousers, how would one wear them then?

vitaminC · 17/08/2013 17:22

I have some silver ones I bought a couple of years ago. They are gorgeous and look great with black opaques and a knee-length skirt.

However, despite being all-leather and bloody expensive they are the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned and I just can't bring myself to wear them any more Sad

scarlet76 · 17/08/2013 17:25

I have the clarks black patent ones and think they work best with opaque and just above the knee skirts and dresses.

totallylost · 17/08/2013 17:34

Are they comfy Scarlet?

I am waiting to get paid to get some pewter mettalic brogues from Biden. Silver is "my" neutral, and these look like they' ll go with anything.

totallylost · 17/08/2013 17:49

They have some lovely colours for the Boden ones but a little too expensive for me.

I have some patent black brogues with black ribbon style laces, and I only wear them with skirts! With trousers I feel like a boy.

I stick to straight skirts or short dresses though.

ILoveOnionRings · 17/08/2013 17:53

I have the clarkes patent black brogues to, wore them quite a lot last winter/spring with opaques and just above knee shirts and dresses.

Only tip would be go get the patent cream in the tube and to use it as stops them cracking and keeps them nice and shiny.

totallylost · 18/08/2013 08:18

Thank for the tip ILOR had read one review that said they cracked.
