I'd love to buy some cashmere jumpers. I'll start with one or two Smile
Which are amazing quality without being 'silly money'?

Well, if you are near a Primark, they sell good cashmere. At Marble Arch, they currently have some black turtlenecks reduced from £45 to £25 (limited sizes).

Uniqlo do cashmere every year (its not out yet, I don't think) and they are around £70 each, but then go on special deals to £50. I think you just need to check the cut, as last year they looked awful on my shape.

Pure Collection do lovely cashmere, around the £100 mark, but they do go on sale. John Lewis brand cashmere is also meant to be really good.

Crutchlow35 · 17/08/2013 08:11

I am sure I read on here you are better to get a cashmere mixed sweater as cashmere alone bobbles really badly. Can someone confirm?

Chocolateteabag · 17/08/2013 08:41

eBay is worth a look for cashmere - lots of different brands obvs, and varying condition, but you can get un worn jumpers too.

Suburban · 17/08/2013 08:58

TK Maxx is really good for cashmere and cashmere mix. I have recently bought a cardigan and a jumper both 50:50 cotton and cashmere for £40 each.

LaTrucha · 17/08/2013 09:06

www.woolovers.com/ Cheap and good quality.

bunnymother · 17/08/2013 09:06

I have quite a few pure cashmere jumpers and most of them have bobbled, but none badly. Ditto most of my wool jumpers, except for the Gap ones which don't seem to bobble. A quick going over with a cashmere comb tidies them up.

foxysocks · 17/08/2013 09:07

I only buy cashmere in clearance sales! I got an orange jumper from style passport (sadly now defunct) for £22, and have two from the outnet (£20 and £45). all reduced from around the £130 mark.

j crew cashmere is supposed to be lovely, i haven't seen it go into the sales although presumably it does sometimes.

scarlettsmummy2 · 17/08/2013 09:11

Mark and Spencer's do lots, normally goes half price in the sale.

missbopeep · 17/08/2013 10:15

I have 3 Boden cashmere jumpers/cardi from 3 years ago and they have washed well but IME their summer cashmere was poorer quality.

I have a J Lewis cashmere funnel neck sweater bought last year which I wore loads and washed a lot and it's still perfect. It was around £75.

Uniqlo is okay IMO but the shapes are not always flattering - bit shapeless so I have yet to buy.

M&S is worth a look if you can find the style and colours you want.

None of my cashmere has bobbled and I machine wash on a silk or handwash wool setting.

TBH now that I've worn cashmere I love it and would rather have 1 nice cashmere jumper than 3 lambswool etc.

Mummyoftheyear · 17/08/2013 11:55

Thank you all!
Really helpful Smile
I love a bargain but would probably rather go with JP or M&S and be able to return it if not happy. I'll look for one at full price - and will keep my eyes peeled for the next big sales.

Tesco do a cashmere range nearer to Christmas and the prices are very reasonable.

Oly4 · 17/08/2013 13:19

I buy cashmere from Pure and John Lewis and love them both. Pure do gorgeous c

Oly4 · 17/08/2013 13:19

Gorgeous colours! I used to buy M&S but just don't think it's as good

Twinklestein · 17/08/2013 13:55

Best quality bar none is Pure Collection. You can buy the previous season colours discounted.

John Lewis stuff is good. M&S not so much.

WildThongsHeartString · 17/08/2013 13:59

This may sound strange, but Costco do really lovely quality cashmere v neck and crew neck sweaters, I've had a few over the years. Don't think they do cardigans?

missbopeep · 17/08/2013 20:43

Uniqlo now have theirs on the website.

uniqlo

CuttedUpPear · 17/08/2013 21:15

Woolovers are amazing. They have a huge collection.

prettybird · 17/08/2013 21:36

M&S' cashmere used to be good but now I find it wears out and bobbles much more quickly (I believe it is a function of cheaper yarn which is shorter in length and therefore quicker to bobble/wear).

John Lewis cashmere is still good! Smile

Dh gets me a piece of cashmere every year for Christmas. Smile

lurkingaround · 17/08/2013 22:17

Last year's M&S bobbled terribly. Won't be buying again!
