I like to think of my AW clothes working for both seasons. So I tend to buy things for autumn and then use layers to get them working for me for the winter.

Fine knit merino jumpers are smart looking, and light enough for sunny autumn days. Try Uniqlo, boden, gap and J crew.

A dress like the adrianna from Whistles, sorry no links as on phone, is great for now and then layers in the form of tights, ankle boots, jumpers etc can be added.

Big cotton/wool mix scarves help as warmth, I like Cos, Zara and day birger but they are a bit £££.

Uniqlo heat tech for wearing under clothes is your friend, you can still wear reasonably thin stuff but the heat tech really keeps you warm.
