Barbour...come up big or small?

I'm contemplating buying a Barbour parka but I'm doing it on-line so can't try on (and thanks to knee surgery I'm having this Friday I won't be likely to be out and about shopping for quite a while!!).
Just wondered whether they come up big/small. I am usually a 10-12, probably edging closer to the 12 but don't want to be swamped by it, so don't know whether to go for the 10 or the 12. This is the one I'm thinking of getting Barbour Parka
Has anyone got it and can tell me if the sizing is generally big/small?

I'd say they come up big. Mine does anyway.

Arisbottle · 14/08/2013 19:36

They come up quite big, same sizing as Joules and Monsoon,

MollyBerry · 14/08/2013 19:47

Massive! I can't get one to fit :(

MollyBerry · 14/08/2013 19:47

Oh and that parka is really nice

mrsravelstein · 14/08/2013 19:49

come up big. and to fit a very curvy shape (which i'm not) going by the jacket i've got.

izzysmydog · 14/08/2013 20:21

I have to disagree think their sizing is small! Their size guide is very good and tells you the heritage range is very fitted so from that range go up a size, the classic range stay with your size. I have three different Barbour jackets ( went a bit mad when bought a dog!! )

I'm with izzy. I have the arctic parka and its pretty small to size and the arms in particular are quite short.

dexter73 · 14/08/2013 20:27

I think they come up small too but then I do have massive shoulders so often have to size up in jackets or coats.

ggirl · 14/08/2013 20:28

Ime they come up small...too small for my norkage anyway

PoshPaula · 14/08/2013 20:28

I have three Barbour jackets/coats and I find the sizing to be on the small side, although as a 10 the 10 does fit me - however sleeves tend to be a bit short. Really nice coats, though.

OrangeLily · 14/08/2013 20:29

I don't have a parka but my jacket comes up big and fits my boobs! It's what made me buy it!

dexter73 · 14/08/2013 20:30

I have this parka. I would go for the 12.

coffeeinbed · 14/08/2013 20:31

Parka comes up small
Regular Barbour comes up big

toboldlygo · 14/08/2013 23:29

I'm a 10-12 and all my Barbour clothes are a 12 - sleeve length can otherwise be a tad short and shoulders come up tight in a 10.

JellyBelly10 · 15/08/2013 00:42

Thanks all! Hmmmm....a mixed bag of responses but weighing up all the comments I'm going for the size 12 so that if I have to send it back to exchange it I can say that I need a smaller one rather than that I misjudged and need a bigger one! Grin
Just noticed on the website that they sell the Barbour oil to treat your coat and keep it oiled....does anyone actually do this??

Just thought I'd let you know that I ordered the 12 and it was really big. I've sent it back and waiting for the 10. Apparently, according to the customer services lady I spoke to, their Heritage range is normally quite fitted so you need the next size up, but this particular parka is looser and you need your real size, she said she's tried it on and had to put on a 16 as the 18 drowned her. Just thought I'd update in case anyone else is about to order one!

The traditional waxed ones come up very big, I need a 14 and there is no way i'm a 14.

I've got last year's Drysdale parka in a 16 and that fits beautifully. There is plenty of room for boobs and a jumper Grin
