Is this dress dull?

I have a voucher for Monsoon and our local banch have this dress in. It did catch my eye as something for work, and although I don't usually wear black, I tried it on and it fits really well. I can't get over the feeling that I will always think of it as a boring dress. It's one of those dresses that poeple call 'flattering' when what they mean is 'hides your tummy'.

What do you think? I do have a tummy to hide. Wink

It's the sort of dress I would buy for work.

I've had a voucher for Monsoon in my purse since April and still haven't found anything worth spending it on.

I used to love Monsoon too.

Sad
OneLittleLady · 13/08/2013 20:05

I like it. Not much more than that to say but I do like it

WipsGlitter · 13/08/2013 20:08

It's fine. Was in Monsoon earlier, their stuff is getting v pricey - very ordinary top was £50!!!!

LaTrucha · 13/08/2013 20:09

I did get two shirts, one silk, for £33 in total the other day. I would never have bought them for more than that but it turns out I really like them. I was surprised. Might be worth a nose if you have a voucher.

It is a nice dres. Nice. Not an inspiring word.

I really like that dress.

MadBusLady · 13/08/2013 20:48

I really love the shape. The way you were talking about it I was picturing a multi-ruched confection. But I see what you mean, it's something about the safeness of the print. You probably wouldn't wear it if you were going straight from work to hot date.

MadBusLady · 13/08/2013 20:49

I do find it a bit depressing though to just have stuff I wear for work. Fair enough if you can only wear suits, but I like most things in my wardrobe to do double duty.

LaTrucha · 13/08/2013 20:49

I think it's perhaps just not the shape for me. I'm quite hourglassy. I just wish it was a little more slinky.

It's lovely. I would buy it.

LaTrucha · 13/08/2013 20:51

It think this may be my most positive S&B thread yet!

The secret to S&B is obviously expectation management! Grin

thenightsky · 13/08/2013 20:56

Can you linky to your two nice shirts please? Smile

LaTrucha · 13/08/2013 20:57

It seems so. If I had called it, 'Is this dress nice?' would I have got different answers? Smile

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 13/08/2013 20:58

It's....OK....[snoreemoticon]

Presumably you can spend the vouchers at Accessorise? Grin

LaTrucha · 13/08/2013 22:14

I have tiny children. Any accesory is stripped from my body as soon as seen!

ShoeWhore · 13/08/2013 22:30

I like it - have you tried it on OP? It might actually have a bit more vavavoom on an hourglass figure?

Hassled · 13/08/2013 22:32

I like it lots. If that dress is dull then my wardrobe is really very dull indeed.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2013 00:03

I actually really like that.

cocolepew · 14/08/2013 00:12

It's lovely.

Elsiequadrille · 14/08/2013 00:15

It's ok. Nothing wrong with it.

SummerRain · 14/08/2013 00:59

Accessorize do nice bags

LaTrucha · 14/08/2013 07:36

I have tried it on and it does fit really wel. It has a kind of gather just above my naural waist / under the bust which I think makes it less flattering thn it could be (although it's there to be flattering IYSWIM).

MelanieCheeks · 14/08/2013 07:41

I think it's nice - if it's a good fit then go for it.

I find it much easier to have a work wardrobe and weekend clothes - there's no way I'd wear jeans and T shirts and trainers to the office, for instance, so there's not much point focussing on getting double-duty or cross-over clothes.
