This heated fleece is amazing! I am just a cold being and it makes such a difference. Agree with the good shoes too.

Fairyloo · 12/08/2013 23:08

I honestly don't have shares in this but honestly north face artic Parka

I love mine more then my husband

Lioninthesun · 12/08/2013 23:12

How do the arms come up lengthwise on the lands end coats? I need long arms...

AnneEyhtMeyer · 12/08/2013 23:21

I have the Landsend Stadium Squall one linked upthread. Bought it last year when it was reduced to £65.

It is not remotely stylish but I feel so cosy and warm in it I don't care. With that and my snowboots I was happy being outside all day last winter. It is like wearing a duvet.

I also bought some fabulous gloves from Costco. They have those thin ones like Thinsulate ones inside, then you put on the over-mitten, which is super-insulated and has holes for each finger inside. Never had such warm hands, and if I need to use my hands I can take off the outer mitten leaving my hands still warm inside the inner gloves.

PicklePants · 13/08/2013 00:00

In case people haven't seen it - someone posted a Lands End 20% discount code on here earlier.

I'm really tempted by the petite squall parka (especially as it would only cost £40 using the discount code!) but I'm 20 weeks pregnant and don't think there's any point buying one just now Sad

I've no idea how they come up in size - anyone know?

slalomsuki · 13/08/2013 07:26

Another vote for the landsend chalet coat here. It's like taking the duvet off your bed and wearing it. So warm and lightweight and I have had loads of comments. Worn with my snow boots whatever the weather.

pocketandsweet · 13/08/2013 07:30

I also have the previously linked to Landsend "human duvet" coat. It is not wildly flattering but neither is it visually offensive. It is however fabulously warm ( and Im Canadian and have spent a bit of time in cold weather gear). I have this and a great pair of Merrell boots and can hardly imagine a situation where they would not be more than adequate.

pocketandsweet · 13/08/2013 07:31

picklepants sizing is generous. Definitely size down.

PicklePants · 13/08/2013 07:39

Thanks pocket Smile

OnFoot · 13/08/2013 08:05

Lion - the arms are a good length. I#'m 5ft 9 and sleeves are fine on me. They also do a tall sizing in some styles and colours but not all. I think the company is American and they tend to size for a larger average height there than the UK shops.

I love landsend coats. I have Squalls for the DC and they have a sleeve thing in them where you can lengthen the sleeve to get a little more wear. And you can nearly always get their stuff on sale and/or with discount code and also cashback. You end up with a quality product for a great price. My chalet coat is perfect - as a pp said, it's not the most stylish but it really isn't offensively drab either.

BrianButterfield · 13/08/2013 08:22

This may be the earliest spotted sighting of the Warm Coats thread! I will cast my vote for the trusty Merrell Haven - it's nicely fitted if that matters to you, like wearing an electric blanket and under £100 if you shop around.

Hazelbrowneyes · 13/08/2013 08:27

North Face all the way. I have this one which I know is over budget but it's the warmest thing ever (I also got it for £199 as it was on sale in Cotswold Outdoor)

This one is a bargain at the moment so if you can stretch your budget by £30 I'd definitely consider this. If you have a cotswold store near by, I'd recommend going in and trying some on. I tried on 7 or 8 different coats but kept going back to my lovely sleeping bag. Grin

thehairybabysmum · 13/08/2013 08:31

I have an Aigle Everywarm coat, so warm and also looks nice, agree you need good boots too!

Gracie990 · 13/08/2013 08:35

Merell, I have a haven, not stylish but toasty warm, too warm to walk the dog in, unless it's minus 10. Perfect for school run/ rugby field etc.

SundaySimmons · 13/08/2013 08:51

Where the hell do you all live? The North Pole? Grin

I'm not a 'hot' person but the winters are so much milder in recent years, so much that I rarely wear gloves anymore.

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 13/08/2013 08:54

I gave a didriksons Veronica and merrell boots as I was determined to keep warm waiting about at school last winter.

Rooners · 13/08/2013 08:55

good prices

Some of these are a bit cheaper elsewhere but some are much cheaper here than anywhere else!

They are very very good coats.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/08/2013 08:57

Grin Sunday

dexter73 · 13/08/2013 08:58

SundaySimmons - if you have ever had to stand and watch a rugby match in freezing cold conditions you will know that within about about 10 minutes your entire body will have started to shut down from hypothermia!

Kbear · 13/08/2013 13:30

SundaySimmons - nearly every Sunday match last winter consisted of snow and biting winds (or at least it felt like it!) = and I'm in London. Just standing, walking up and down a bit, then more standing..... brrrrrrrrrr !

BrianButterfield · 13/08/2013 14:27

I wore snow boots for about two months last winter due to snowy/slippy conditions. Pretty sure I was not imagining pushing my pushchair through snow every day for bloody weeks! Miles my arse!

CeliaFate · 13/08/2013 15:41

I would totally recommend the North Face Arctic Parka, even though it's over budget. I am always cold and this is like wearing a duvet. It's fantastic. here it is

SundaySimmons · 13/08/2013 15:54

I see, I missed the bit about standing and watching sports.

Being some cardboard to stand on, that's what market stall holders do apparently!
