Shoes for achy feet?

Hi, not sure this really fits in style and beauty but can anyone recommend any nice comfortable shoes for me, I get really sore/achy feet and ankles, the trouble is my job involves me being on my feet all day, and I also have a bad habit of going barefoot in the house (tiled floors). I would like some casual shoes or sandals (not boots) that are COMFY but don't make me look too much like an old lady. I have looked at mephisto ones but they are very pricey, I bought some Scholl sandals but they are not at all supportive. I have had Birkenstocks before but they make me feel like I am wearing a pair of barges on my feet. Any ideas wise women?? Thank you!

Would fitflop constitute old ladyness? I have really achey feet and find their 'slide' ones really comfy. I have them in black patent and today am wearing them with skinnies and a t shirt and don't think they look too dreadful. They're not cheap but there are sales on in loads of places.

Ecco. Not all old lady (and let's face it, those hideously fashionable vile brogue things that are "in" at the moment are the most old ladyesque shoes in existence but because someone has deemed them cool, they're ok!)

I will never wear anything other than Ecco ever ever again. They are like gloves.

I have found Clarks Unstructured very comfortable. If you register on their website, they send 20% codes quite often. I have these for autumn/winter. My feet are more comfy with a mary jane style.

I have read that bare feet on tiled floors are not such a good idea. I have started to wear Fit Flops round the house instead of slippers/bare feet.

Thank you, off to order some fitflop slides to see me though the rest of the hols, will investigate clarks/ecco for autumn. Think my days of wearing cheap supermarket sneakers for everyday are over, sadly.

I bought Converse earlier this year, on the recommendation of MN, and my feet have never been so happy! But maybe they are too casual?
