Long necklaces

Sorry if I sound totally ignorant but I'm not really clued up on the latest fashions and trends so need a lot of little guidance. Simple question, are long necklaces still considered fashionable or has the craze been long dead and I am only just realizing? Used to see them everywhere last few years but admittedly dont pay much attention to these things.

So i'm going to a party tomorrow, gorgeous outfit which is sorted but thought i'd dress it up a little with a lovely gold and black necklace I bought some time back from River Island. But do not fancy spoiling my look! Help oh wise fashionistas!

I am no fashion guru but I think that shorter bulkier necklaces are in. Usually have lots of crystals or colours. Lots of nice ones in Zara.

Either will work. Yes short, chunky statement necklaces are everywhere but style isn't about slavishly following trends Wink.

Link to dress and necklace please!

Short 'statement' necklaces definitely more current, but I love long necklaces and think they are both classic and very flattering as they slim the body. Good if you are booby I think.
