I have a Pippa...

And it has not been out of its dust-bag since I bought it.

I bought it literally the week before the Royal wedding. Suddenly a week later I had an accidental 'it' bag and I was embarrassed that people would think I was trying to copy Pippa Middleton.

Then the Daily Mail, who were obsessed with her, printed a sweatshop story about how the Modalu bags were made for pennies in terrible conditions, and that made me feel even more shit about it.

I can't bring myself to eBay it because it's the only expensive(ish) bag I've ever owned, and I know I'd probably only get a fraction back from eBay.

So I'm thinking about going for it, actually taking it out of the house... What are the chances people will judge me negatively?

I have a black one and had it before the puppy effect. I am still asked where I got it from. As the above poster said no one really cares or knows about the pippa bag.

Puppy! Pippa.

SofaCanary · 09/08/2013 10:58

I'm not adverse to the odd luxury handbag or 10 but I wouldn't recognise the 'Pippa' if I fell over it Hmm

Trills · 09/08/2013 11:00

It's just a handbag. If you like it, use it.

Remember that 99% of the people who pass you will not pay the slightest bit of attention to your handbag.

I have a toffee one and I use it every day for work- it's just a practical bag as far as I'm concerned (big plus point is you can fit A4 papers in there) and no one has ever said anything either good or bad about it to me. Only thing is note the leather is starting to fade a bit round the base which is disappointing, but I suppose I don't really look after it very well.

I know I probably seem really odd, feelng intimidated by a bag Grin but the thing is I've been at home and home educating my son for the last three years, and I live in Asda jeans, cheap tops and trainers - and due to an undiagnosed till recently thyroid condition, I have been packing on the weight and lacking in confidence.

It always makes me cringe when I see a slobbish looking woman with an expensive bag on her arm.

Something structured makes me feel I should be in heels and a suit with my hair blow-dryed - and thinner! I have been feeling better, losing weight and trying to look generally smarter which is why I've been considering outing the bag...

Now you either understand me completely or you think I'm a headcase!

You own the bag, the bag does not own you!

polyhymnia · 09/08/2013 15:13

If it were me it'd be the metalware that would put me off, not the structure. But that's just a personal dislike . If you like the bag go for it and enjoy.

scripsi · 09/08/2013 15:25

I honestly wouldn't make the Pippa Middleton link at all (and I love handbags) unless you went round with a placard of pap photos featuring her carrying the bag.

cocolepew · 09/08/2013 15:40

I had a Dancing Pippa

I had no idea there was a Pippa bag, I'm sure it means nothing to the majority of people.

Though saying that the only bags I recognise are River Island and Cath Kidston Grin

I am at heart a jeans a T shirt girl ( in various stages of smartness) and I'd often use my ex-pippa for supermarket shops etc dresses in jeans and converse. I think the opposite to you- a nice bag even if you are dressed casually shows style and that you care about your appearance.

The reason i went off the pippa was the gold hardware- too brassy looking for me with all the zips and their logo.

cloutiedumpling · 09/08/2013 16:48

I like the look of the black one with brogue stitching. It's unfortunate that it is associated with PM, but it wouldn't put me off buying one if I had the money!

polyhymnia · 09/08/2013 17:08

You and me both missbopeep!
