Another Shellac Question

I recently had shellac done - it lasted for 4 weeks and was brilliant and my nails looked fantastic. When she did it, I was a bit surprised that the technician went over my nail surface with a sort of emery board thing but thought nothing of it. Since the shellac came off, I have noticed that the nails look as if they have been "sanded" which doesn't exactly make them look great. Is it usual to "sand over" the nail before applying the shellac - I presume this was to make it stay on better which it certainly did? Unfortunately, it makes me think it is not worth having it done again when they look so awful afterwards.

I've had Shellac several times and thought that was more to make sure the nail was smooth rather than sanding it down. How did you get the Shellac off? Did you remove it by peeling or was it done properly? Your nails are probably dried out and need some moisture.

You may be right - I just wasn't sure. I know the technician is thought of as being very good. Yes it was removed properly and I noticed the marks as soon as it was coming off. I have been using almond oil.
