Too old for board shorts?

I am looking for another pair of shorts to take on holiday and of course, the shops have gone all Autumnal on me and I can't find any for love nor money. There are quite a few pairs of board shorts up on Ebay (e.g. Animal) that look ideal for the Spanish sun, but at not that much over 40, am I too old? I was thinking of the 'just above the knee', colour block ones rather than hot pants or outlandish designs. I am a size 10/12, 5' 6''. I probably wouldn't wear them in England, just on holiday. Please advise before I make my bid!! Thank you.

I wear them on holiday to go down to the pool etc and I'm late thirties. I'm not sure I look deadly in them but I don't think anyone is laughing either. Have you tried j crew? They do shirts all year round.

Thank you. I might go for it. I was looking for a bit of a bargain as I'll only probably wear them a few times, I imagine J Crew are out of my budget but I shall take a look.
