My Shellac peeled after 1 week.

I'm surprised it lasted that long. It did look nice but gel or acrylics usually lift on me.

I might try Biosculpture nails & see how they go.

I use shellac and it rarely lasts longer than a week. I only get it for special occasions like holidays or weddings etc but it's worth it because I've yet to find another nail varnish that doesn't chip. My nail technician says some of her ladies get a full month out of it but she thinks they're very 'ladies who lunch' and they don't do a great deal of housework or nappy changes :)

Auntfini · 02/08/2013 16:23

I only get 1 week out of shellac. I can get 3 weeks from gelish and I am not 'ladies who lunch' ;-)

Not only has shellac only lasted a mere week at most on me but it also wrecked my nails. Took 6 months to get them back into decent condition.

Crutchlow35 · 02/08/2013 17:59

Gel is much better. Shellac doesn't ruin the nails as long as it is taken off properly. Shellac peels off my nails quite often unfortunately.

EagleRiderDirk · 02/08/2013 18:18

As long as I don't take the DCs swimming I can get gels and shellac to last 2-3 weeks. As soon as the local pool comes into the equation we're talking instant lift.

WoolySocks · 02/08/2013 21:45

I've tried Shellac, Gelish, Jessica Gelerations and BioSculpture. BioSculpture last the longest by far. Toenails still look great after 5-6 weeks (french manicure, not brights), fingernails still look great after a month. I'm definitely not a lady who lunches! Do plenty of carrying logs indoors, loading stuff in and out of the car, housework etc.

i was going to do this for holiday, then thought, hey on holiday i have HOURS to do shit like this....

JudithOfThePiece · 02/08/2013 21:57

I've never heard of biosculpture - what's that, please?

suntodayplease · 02/08/2013 22:23

I used to have bio sculpture but preferred the shellac colours, so now I have the bio sculpture base coat, followed by the shellac colour and top coat. Lasts me three weeks, no peeling at all and I'm constantly washing/cleaning atm. It was done on me as a trial by my salon and apparently a few of the regulars now have this combination and find its got the best staying power.

WoolySocks · 03/08/2013 08:51

BioSculpture claim to be the 'original' gel nail colour Judith

Let's see if I can get the linky thing to work...

Mine lasted less than 2 days AND wrecked my nails. Never again.

JudithOfThePiece · 03/08/2013 21:58

Thanks Wooly - sounds interesting. I'm only just dipping my toe into the gel nail pool, but I'm liking it so far.

BellaVita · 03/08/2013 22:01

I have had shellac a few times for holidays, always lasted a good three weeks.
