urgent maxi dress help!

I need advice asap!

Got night out weekend. Cocktail bar then dinner. Going out early eve 6pm ish.

I'm looking for a maxi dress and I haven't got much time to buy. Due to the time I'm going out do I opt for daytimey look or evening? I'm thinking more evening but a lot of the dresses I've looked at are either very daytime or full on party. I love to dress up but don't want to look a prat.

I'm 5ft 3. Size 8- 10(more ten) and like youngish kind of look!

Me+Em do (do?) really nice maxi dresses, will work both for day/night time in my opinion

Debenhams have got some real bargains. Bought two maxi dresses and another dress for £25 yesterday.

Try Wallis, they usually have a big range of maxi dresses.

I bought a lovely one in Matalan of all places. And Asda had some great ones too recently.

Sorry if you were wanting something from a posher shop btw (but they were v nice)

Our local BHS had an absolutely perfect (petite) maxi dress to fit your description. The strappy top part was black and shaped, very flattering and eveningy, it had a flattering line where the skirt joined, which was in a black and white pattern (a bit more daytime, but it made it less over the top). I saw it nearer closing time and so couldn't try it on and when I went back, it was gone. I had a quick look online but didnt see it. Maybe youcwill have better luck, op, if that is the type of thing you were looking for.

Thanks everyone. Haven't had a chance to look today but will go out panic buying tomorrow now! Looked on boohoo too and some nice ones and cheap. If I can, I would rather go physically to a shop and try one on as I will end up with loads of stuff I need to return.
