DH was at an event and they were giving away Hunter wellies as a gift. He got me a pair in shiny black, will I look completely ridiculous wearing these in town on a school run in the rain?!

Considering I've seen people walking round in the sunshine in them, I think you'll be fine when they are actually needed

As long as its raining Heavy and muddy, you will look fine .
Personally I only wear mine for country walks in the mud with kids/dog. I have waterproof walking boots for school run, so not the height of fashion but practical.

Horse riders and country people don't wear them because they're crap for walking in and swiftly lose their waterproof qualities - the shiny fashion ones are exclusively for mud-free school run mums, you'll fit right in!

Real country folk wear Dubarry boots, with not a Hunter in sight, so you'll be fine

A blogger last year did a post recommending shiny black wellies for town, shopping, school run etc. Think it was cocomama, but i've lost the link, sorry. so others are more likely to be jealous than laugh at you. Enjoy wearing them!

Fine for school, but our school secretary gets really peeved when people don't remove willies to come into her carpeted office - I agree it's really rude, especially as the majority wear willies for functional rather than style reasons!

Can I go to your DH's events? I have pink hunter Wellies but would love some more.

Hunters used to be really good, now they split and wear down very quickly. I stopped buying them.

^^ agree with post above shiny ones don't even stay waterproof, great for school run.

I always remove my wellies when going into school as I usually stomped over muddy fields and wouldn't wear them at home.
