I don't know where to start looking. Have a new job in September following 4 years at home with babies. Before that, we wore the same clothes as the kids (special school teacher).

New job is teaching year one. I want to do smart - it seems a smart school. So I need smart, washable, comfortable.

Dresses and long skirts appeal, but I find it hard to know what's smart and what's over the top.

I'm 37, size 10-12.

Another appeal for help!

Went shopping today. Found nothing. Absolutely nothing. Where is good to look online? Thanks.

I'm in a similar position although returning for my final year of teacher training after maternity leave. My first placement in key stage one, so am thinking slightly less formal than key stage two- no more pencil skirts as will need to sit comfortably on the floor for longer etc...

I've come up with a list of item to build upon - a few jersey dresses (boden on eBay, tk Maxx?) with opaques, a couple of comfy patterned or colourful skirts, a pair of black trousers, some tunic tops and plain vest tops to wear under cardigans with the skirts. And PE kit, a warm coat, a pair of boots and a pair of pumps! HTH

And some jersey blazers from Uniqlo:

Also bought a couple of tops and a pair of trousers in COS sale, all under £20, final reductions

Thanks for the ideas. I had a much more successful shopping trip today.

Silk/ linen planet trousers in charcoal (£1.99 oxfam)
Ruffle red and grey patterned blouse (£1.99 oxfam)
Red jersey blazer in the sale in a little boutique
Greyish straight legged trousers from White Stuff (full price!)
Wool dress in grey and pink - white stuff sale
Mustardy chinos in white stuff sale

A much better base now to build the wardrobe from. I'm happier to just look out for tops I like now.
