lace or no lace?

Dd1 (8) is going to a fancy dress party as a leopard. Picked up a bargain in a charity shop (see profile page). The dress clearly is designed for an adult but with the straps tied fits her well & looks like a sun dress, it's a thin jersey material. Trouble is it has lace on bust line and hem - I can't decide whether it looks too old and suggestive - I'm not a lace fan personally. I could snip it out quite easily and leave a small brown edge. Alternatively I have no ideas about what is stylish and acceptable as I'm generally a jeans & t-shirt girl.

I would take the lace off - it makes it look a bit like a nightie.

I think it probably is a nightie, but wasn't sure if it would pass as a sundress. Without the lace it will be the same as a number of other dresses they have, and she wants to either have body paint or a top underneath. Thanks for confirming my thoughts. Dd1 is innocently enjoying the lace!
