accent colour for denim blue sofa

Wasn't sure whether to post here or in DIY, but it's sort of a style question. I have a lovely antique sofa which is in denim blue. It is this colour but nothing like that style, more like this. However I have no idea what colours would go with it and make my sitting room a bit more interesting. At the moment the room is BLAND. Cream walls, beige/navy/cream striped curtains. I need some sort of other colour to give the whole thing a bit more oompf or something.

Teal/duck egg really doesn't work. I was wondering purple/lilac but that still seems a bit wishywashy. Any suggestions?

Thanks, DD would love orange, it's her favorite colour. Hadn't considered that.

Oscar you might be right, everything is a bit monoblock colour, I need bolder paterns as well I think. Basically it all needs a major overhaul.

Orange or perhaps red would get my vote. Orange is more original.

I was going to suggest houzz too. If you put 'blue orange living room' in as a search you will probably get lots of inspiration.

It's important to go easy on colours like red and orange as the can be a bit hard on the eye. I think these are the colours for fast food restaurants because people want to get in and out. Accessories may give the lift and contrast you want though.
