What do you do when you're between sizes?

Size 16 on top is a bit too small because I have a largish chest, but 18 is going to be too big, esp. if I lose a few more lbs.

I've just ordered and received some nice clothes from a website and they do fit, but if I lose any weight will be too big. These clothes are all size 18.

I have bought clothes a size smaller in the past with the intention of losing and of course I never did.

Is it best just to go with the size you are now and just wear them for as long as you can? I hate wearing stuff that's too big, but too small looks horrible and is uncomfortable.

I'd go for the smaller size but in a forgiving fabric like a soft jersey

These are all cotton, so not much give.

I hate my chest Sad I'm a size 14 on the bottom. My chest pushes my top size right up. It's really irritating.

This might be irritating advice but have you seen the gazillions of bra threads? If you were wearing an ill fitting bra it would have the potential to affect the fit of your clothes so worth checking. If its not that my best advice would be to shop around as there are obviously big and small 16s so if a size 16 from top shop is snug an m&s 16 will probably be fine etc

I have a similar issue with my huge norks as if I want something to fit my boobs, it's too big everywhere else.

I'm also in between sizes. My tips:

Loose/put weight, a couple of lbs should help.

Buy jersey/stretchy clothes or clothes that are adjustable, like wrap dresses.

Shop in places with generous cuts eg gap and next tend to be generous with their sizes - if you are in between a 14 and 16, their 14 is more like a 15.

Dh just said "can't you buy a 17?" Grin

I've decided that I'm going to wear the clothes I've bought, as opposed to sending them back, and continue eating healthily and hopefully shedding a few more lbs. I literally have nothing nice to wear, so do need to wear these clothes now.

Hopefully, I'll be in 16 tops soon, so will buy smaller size then. Blasted boobs Angry I'd have a reduction if I could.

I had this problem for several years. 14 too big, 12 too tight. Only solution for me was to lose weight grrrrr Grin

Just swap to a different shop - sizes vary sooooo much that another shop will be totally different.
Before pregnancy (curretnly 8mo) I had 10s, 12s and 14s in my wardrobe which all fit.

If I were to buy something in two sizes and neither fit properly I'd send it back and buy something else.

wasabipeanut · 26/07/2013 10:34

The times this has affected me was when I was dropping pregnancy weight and going from 16 to 12. I wear bigger sizes to make me feel thinner until they become ridiculous then size down. Squeezing into smaller sizes I couldn't quite fit into made me cry.

I bought a few cheap, supermarket jeans and sale bits to tide me over for a few months.

Have you looked at Pepperberry? They make clothes to fit bigger boobs without the rest of the clothes being as big. Worth a try, think the sale must be on now.
