Good value handwash to replace Jo Malone present!

I was given a Jo Malone body and handwash as a present for Christmas and now realise how rubbish the normal cheapo handwashes are that I normally place in the bathroom. I don't want to spend that kind of money myself replacing the Jo Malone one, especially at the rate the kids go through the stuff, but would like recommendations for a handwash that smells nice, doesn't just run off your hands as soon as the water hits it, and is reasonably priced. Any ideas?

There's L'Occitane en Provence which has lovely hand washes and are about half the price but still expensive (about £14 for a 300ml bottle as opposed to Jo Malone's £32 for 250ml) Look nice in your loo though! Expensive but nice to splash out on every now and then.

I like Molton Brown. They are £16 for 300 ml.

WAitrose own is good value, or Palmolive. Stick it in the Jo Malone bottle though.

I use cheapo Asda creme bath in a fancy handwash bottle and have never found a difference.

Go to TKMax.
They have nice hand wash stuff for bargain price.

dexter73 · 24/07/2013 14:24

Baylis & Harding is nice and very reasonable.

I love the l'occitane ones but for everyday use I get the Ecover liquid soaps (lavender or citrus). Some of the cheaper ones make my hands sting (and I have rough old mits like a navvy).

Or maybe buy something plain like Simple and add some essential oils to it to make it small all lovely.

JemimaPuddle · 24/07/2013 14:27

L'occitane liquid soap.

Aldi does a fab MB dupe.

KoalaFace · 24/07/2013 14:38

The QVC website has a great offer on 3 x 300ml l'occitane hand a body wash in different fragrancea for £32.

Also can anyone else see my face upthread or am I imagining it?

EarlyIntheMorning · 24/07/2013 14:41

L'Occitane is fantastic and actually lasts a really long time, and the smell is DIVINE specially Verbena.

KoalaFace · 24/07/2013 14:43

The Verbana one is in that set!

But seriously...can you see my face?

ScooseIsLoose · 24/07/2013 14:44

I bought my friend a gift set in debenhams of the l occitane stuff it had a large verbena hand wash, 2 hand creams a soap and body wash for 20 quid down from 32 it might we worth a look?

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2013 14:57

Koala, your imagining it (not really I can see it too)

Have you tried eBay for jm? The body shop do scented hand washes too.

KoalaFace · 24/07/2013 14:59

Thanks Fluffy phew!

jennymac · 24/07/2013 15:48

Thanks everyone - must try the L'Occitane one. I just love the way the JM one leaves the bathroom (and your hands) smelling nice for ages afterwards. My DSIL bought some bath and bodyworks handwash home from USA in January. It was winter cranberry and had a lovely smell and lasted for months. I've looked for it online but they don't seem to be stocking the same range.

For some reason I have the option to add a photo. I always put in the koala (beyond cute!).

It's hard to tell as I think you get used to the smell of your own perfume and stop noticing it. I put some JM perfume on this morning at 7am and I can still smell it on my wrist but it is quite faint by now (4.40pm)

Maybe there is still a trace of it but your sense of smell isn't as strong?

I refill my Molton Brown naranji handwash bottle with £2 Baylis and Harding and house guests often comment on how nice it is. I am an unashamed cheapskate.
