So I know that people in London wear normal clothes but I fancy talking about it anyway. Indulge me please.

I know that I can wear what on earth I want, and I know that nobody cares, but we're having a few days in London next week and the weather looks very changeable. I don't really want to buy new clothes and I will obviously bring a brolly but should I buy a pack-a-parka thing too? Warm and wet is so hard to get right imho.

I have got:
obligatory brolly
jeans
cigarette trousers
tube skirts - long, short, midi
jersey dresses
sandals
Converse
ballet shoes
various tops etc
cotton biker
leather biker (doubt I'll want that)
denim jacket

Anybody fancy styling me? Want tp pack as light as possible too. :)

It sounds too warm for a pac-a-mac. You will sweat too much. I would just go for an umbrella. What are you going to be doing in the big smoke?

cocolepew · 21/07/2013 19:26

Sun hat?

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 21/07/2013 19:28

No don't buy a pack a parka! An umbrella will do and even then you can duck into a pub and sit it out. I NEVER carry a brolly.

Your wardrobe sounds fine. Just add beautiful scarves, a statement necklace and lovely accessories with a strong handbag. Job done.

charitygirl · 21/07/2013 19:28

Don't bring the leather biker - it's always degrees hotter than forecast when you're in the middle of town in summer.

Do you have shorts? Unless you only have truly rank gardening style numbers I would bring them. I prob wouldn't bother with cigarette trousers either unless you have posh nights out planned.

cocolepew · 21/07/2013 19:28

I would bring a pac a mac, they're really handy

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 21/07/2013 19:29

If you want to pack light lose the jeans, leather biker and only one pair each of the shoe types mentioned. I assume the sandals can go with evening wear?

valiumredhead · 21/07/2013 19:33

No biker jacket will be far to warm even if it's pissing down, just take a brolly. Have funGrin

valiumredhead · 21/07/2013 19:33

Too

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 21/07/2013 19:38

It's going to be incredibly humid this week, I wouldn't bring jeans or biker jacket. It will be short heavy showers I expect, so as others said, dive into a cafe or bar.
I can't imagine you will need a jacket of any sort actually. Just bring a brolly.

LadyMilfordHaven · 21/07/2013 19:45

what are you doing? i would do jeans shorts. skirt
tops
jackay ( light ) not leather you weirdo Grin

HellonHeels · 21/07/2013 19:49

How many days are you coming for? Are you really going to wear all those clothes?

It's pretty warm here at the moment and likely to stay that way even once the heatwave breaks. I agree with ditching the leather and the jeans. Pacamac will be sweaty, I think.

Have fun!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 19:57

No I won't bring all of those clothes - I was just giving you an idea of what I've got! No to the leather and no to the pack-a-mac! Will also ditch the ballet shoes.

I have got shorts but they are very short and my legs are very white. I usually only wear them in Greece. I'll probably bring a mini skirt or two instead - I have a Whistles tube one and a denim one, both of which look fine with bare legs and Converse.

So: for four days -
one tube skirt
one denim skirt
one jersey dress
sandals and Converse
cotton jacket
couple of tops
cropped cigarette trousers (they are cotton, so light and not posh or worky at all)

Done, yes? Won't need anything posh - pizza or the cinema is the most we're likely to be doing in the evenings, or mooching around South Bank or Covent Garden, I guess.

Are you planning to walk lots? Strolling around in the heat = swollen feet so shoes need to be able to cope. And sandals might mean filthy feet if you care about that.

QueenCadbury · 21/07/2013 19:58

remus I always thought you were queen of the capsule wardrobe judging by your pin boards?

I'm all about practicality so would personally take a cagoule type thing. If it rains it may well be heavy thunderstorms. Depending how many days you're going for you shouldn't need loads of skirts, jeans, trousers and a dress. Maybe lots of tops as you'll get hot and sweaty if travelling by tube.

dexter73 · 21/07/2013 19:58

I think that is a list of what Remus is able to take not what she is planning to take!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 19:58

Yes - we'll be walking lots and lots and lots. I can manage many miles in both the sandals and the Converse, and will stick my feet in fountains if they get too mucky!

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 19:59

Yes, absolutely, Dexter. That was just a list of some of my options. :)

QueenCadbury · 21/07/2013 19:59

I x posted with remus!

nowahousewife · 21/07/2013 20:04

Wear whatever you like, that's the great thing about London; nobody cares!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 20:06

I know, Housewife, but I like talking about clothes! :)

OP posts:
HellonHeels · 21/07/2013 20:28

Ha ha sorry - didn't realise that was your "to choose from" clothes list Blush Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 20:30

:)

I like to travel as light as possible. I could do two weeks in Greece on hand luggage, but the UK is harder because of the changes in weather.

OP posts:
thecatfromjapan · 21/07/2013 20:33

... but won't you be shopping? You could buy things here, Remus!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 20:34

No shopping. This is a cultural trip, dont'cha know?! I am going with three people who hate shopping!

OP posts:
thecatfromjapan · 21/07/2013 20:36

i agree with all those saying not to bother with the pac-a-mac. Just a brolly.

I re-visited East London a short while ago, having not been for a bit, and you Really Must Go and have a nose around the shops and bars if you like fashion, Remus.
