So I just measured by bra size and I'm shocked, is it right?

I measured under and I'm 34. Well I'm 33.5. That is taut, completely flat to skin.

When I do the lean over measurement (which made dh smirk) I measured 41inches.

Am I right thinking that makes me 34E?

I have teeny (saggy and deflated) bosoms!

A 34C is equivalent cup volume wise to a 30DD. So I would expect a bit of bulge (given you measure at an E/F) but not enormous quad boob comedy overspill :) On me, a single cup too small isn't immediately obvious but shows up under clothes and once I am breathing in. 2 cups is perma bulge but not huge.

mootime · 16/08/2013 20:31

Thanks.
Back to front I have tons of space to pull ( its an old bra though). Don't think I have quadra boob or overspill. But have noticed that the bra doesn't sit flat between my boobs. I get back ache but the bra itself doesn't hurt, but the staps do slip.
It's on it's third pregnancy though so is pretty rank! I just lost my old faithful 36G Freya's (the underwire popped out of two in a week!).
Am on phone and can't see if I answered everything.

mootime · 16/08/2013 20:31

And yes the back does ride up.
Can't beleieve I'm only a 34 though...

toastedteacake · 16/08/2013 20:36

Thanks Sorrel.

You hit the nail on the head,I definitely look matronly in that Fantasie bra.

Am off to check out those recommendations

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/08/2013 21:15

OK that definitely sounds like you need a 34. I'm a size 16 with a 30 back - small backs don't always do with small dress sizes :) It also sounds like you probably need another cup worth of volume - so I would start with a 34H and work from there

IncogKNEEto · 16/08/2013 22:21

Hello, I have just measured as suggested and my measurements are:

35 Back
40-41 Around (not sure how 'loosely' this should be measured 40 is snug but not tight iyswim? and 41 was more loose).

I am currently wearing a 36D (having spent the previous 25 years in a tight 38/40B!) and was surprised when I was measured at that size.

Please would you advise me oh wise ones? Thank you Smile

SorrelForbes · 16/08/2013 22:25

Try a 34F/E and a 36E/DD. I suspect the 34F might e the best.

IncogKNEEto · 16/08/2013 22:28

Wow Shock, that seems a big jump (especially from my previously thought of B cups!). Thank you Sorrel for the speedy reply, I will try on some bras in those sizes and report back Smile.

SorrelForbes · 16/08/2013 22:54

I know it does seen large but a 40B has the same cup volume as a 38C, 36D and a 34DD.

TheMagicToyshop · 17/08/2013 02:35

Just wanted to say, having noticed a few of these threads and read the bra guru blog I went into m&s today armed with my new measurements. When m&s measured me in the past they'd said I was a 36c, so i have always worn 34-36 c or d bras. Today I tried on a few sizes but stuck with 32 F. They look and feel amazing, it's a total revalation. When I had to put my old bra back on afterwards I couldn't believe how badly it fitted - baggy round the back but spilling out the cups, just awful. But having never worn a bra that properly fits I'd never noticed now bad it was.
So thanks so much to everyone on the MN bra threads! Very wise advice on here.

SorrelForbes · 17/08/2013 08:01

That's great news! Spread the word Grin

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 17/08/2013 10:01

Can someone help me? I'm 33 underneath and 36 across the boob.

I'm currently wearing a 36a but I know the strap is too loose.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/08/2013 10:44

Try 32D, 32C, 34C, 34B. If you scoop in your current bra how does the cup fit, and how much too loose is the back - how far away can you pull it

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 17/08/2013 12:51

There's a fair amount of room in the cup tbh. My boobs post breast feeding are smaller, empty and sagging

The strap is too baggy and I can pull it away by at least 3 inches Blush

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/08/2013 13:04

OK in that case I would try the 32s. Especially post feeding scooping is really important though to get everything in the cup

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 17/08/2013 13:28

32c or d?

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/08/2013 13:35

Try both. The 32C will have the same volume as your current bra but the cups will be a different shape, and the tighter band will make it feel very different and will hold the cups up better. I'd probably try a balconette style given your shape. It's quite common to find once the band is tighter that you need more cup space than was initially apparent

KosherBacon · 17/08/2013 13:49

Any tips on styles/ shapes/ sizes of bras for me?

Underbust- relaxed- 34", tight 32.75" Bent over 90'= 41.5"
I am 2 weeks post breastfeeding and looking forward to my first new bras. I understand my boobs have a lot of settling to do so I only plan on buying two (black and nude) to keep me going.

I have about two cup sizes difference between my boobs and they are fuller at the bottom. I often find I don't fill a full cup bra as there isn't enough at the top. As for wires, I often find Panache bras too wide, especially the Superbra Tango. Pre pregnancy my go to bra was the Freya Deco (32E), however I am not sure if it is going to make my boobs look silly. I think my boobs are quite wide root too. I liked the moulded cup of the deco because it evened out the smaller one, but I'm not sure if it would make me look too busty nor as it holds them quite high and cleavegey. I'm thinking balconette would be good.

Any tips on shapes and sizes to try on would be greatly appreciated.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/08/2013 14:00

OK, size wise you are sitting somewhere around a 32G/GG so start there size wise. I'm a fellow wide rooter - Freya are generally quite good, and I also get on very well with a lot of the Bravissimo own brand bras. Shape wise the issue you might now find is that post feeding you are possibly emptier on the top so bras like the Deco can have issues with gaping/emptyness at the top of the cups even if they fit. A lot of ladies in this situation like the Cleo Juna. There is also a new cleo called the Maddie out which I am quite keen to try and is apparently good for shallow/wide boobs

There is an article on thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk about managing asymmetry which you might like to have a read of

KosherBacon · 17/08/2013 14:12

Thank you statisticallychallenged!

I'm in a 34G nursing bra and admit it could be tighter around the back. I can't get to Bravissimo for a fitting for a while so I might order a couple to try on.

Passthecake30 · 17/08/2013 14:24

Hi Sorrel. ..can u advise on what size cleo juna I should try? Currently wearing a 30ff in curvy Kate tease me (slight bulge one boob) and a 30f in a fantasy that ia hurting my breast bone. A 30ff in a gorgeous Debenhams tshirt bra, comfy enough...but looking for a lower cut style as I have empfy at the top boobs. ..and a long body. Measure 29.5/30

KosherBacon · 17/08/2013 14:25

Also, any particular Freya cuts or styles worth looking at?
