Permanently broken finger nail

Sassee · 15/07/2013 21:38

I broke a finger nail years ago and it appears to be permanently naffed! It broke vertically and splits all the time.

In the past I've gone for acrylics as I like my nails to look presentable and polished, which this cracked split one doesn't.

I hate how they wreck my nails though. Any other suggestions? Shellac etc?

I've tried all the Sally Hanson stuff to no avail, this must be a damaged nail bed situation so I am resigned to some form of salon treatment.

TIA

Silk wrap?

I agree sounds like you've damaged the nail bed. I did this to my thumb when I was 13 (jammed thumb in fire door hinge at school) and it splits down one side of the nail...There isn't anything you can do to repair the damage as such, only look after the growing nail. I have to keep my nail really short. I haven't tried any of the salon treatments on a regular basis so don't know if there is anything else you can do.

You could try nailtiques formula 2 or formula 2 plus. Gets great reviews and I found it really good when I was using it. You build up the layers throughout the week then take it off and start again.

I have one the same, with a damaged nail bed. I haven't found ANYTHING that stops it splitting.
