Anyone seen any maxi dresses suitable for 5' 9" and over? Size 18.

I know, I know, but I am hot and they keep me cool. Just like 'em floor length not anklish.

Miss Selfridge maxi dresses are VERY long. I'm five foot and the last one I bought from there had a good six or seven inches of spare material at the bottom if not more

Passthecake30 · 15/07/2013 14:58

Just got one from peacocks...I'm 6ft and it reaches my feet :)

Asda do a maxi dress for tall ladies, I bought one by mistake last week, I'm 5.6 and it had at least 6 inches spare. You would probably need heels.

MotionCity · 15/07/2013 15:32

New Look Tall. I'm 5'11" and they're floor skimming on me.

MotionCity · 15/07/2013 15:35

Oh, and, rather strangely - H&M. Their maxi dresses are often long enough (= floor length, I don't do ankle swingers) for me, but you'd need to try them on item-by-item in the shop.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/07/2013 15:38

Monsoon. I am 5'10" and they are perfect for me. I think they have a sale on now too, and you can often find them on EBay :-)

Thank you - off to do some research.

I'm about your height/size and the maxi I got from monsoon this season is floor skimming not ankle skimming.

QueenMaeve · 15/07/2013 21:35

I'm 5"8, the Oasis ones are trailing the ground on me

Vintagebeads · 16/07/2013 08:11

I am 5 11 and New Look tall are really long.I got a couple of jersey ones and they skim the floor on me.

Better selection online than in the shop.

daimbardiva · 16/07/2013 09:58

I got one from Yumi online. I'm 5'11" and it skims the floor :) also have a couple from Dorpthy Perkins, but they're not quite as long.

ReapWhatYouSew · 16/07/2013 11:41

I'm the same height and Oasis and Warehouse are both a great length for me.

valiumredhead · 16/07/2013 11:53

Yours. Very long maxi dresses.

issynoho · 16/07/2013 13:02

Thanks again folks - I'm doing lots of online trawling and will get a trip to the shops planned in too.

i just need a V-neck to show off the girls at their new Bravissimo finest, empire line to skim over the best-not-drawn-attention-to middle bit, jersey to hang well and floor length for swish and hiding legs. And not horizontal stripes. Under £50. Smile

Update: Just been into town and Valiumredhead you are the winner! Tried stuff on all over the place and found a very serviceable dress in Yours. Now that I know their sizes, have also ordered another online with a free postage and returns code from a leaflet in the shop - STOREFD valid til 30/9/13 on purchase over £20 inc sale. The staff were really helpful too.

Thanks for all your help.

Oh great, isn't their stuff long?? I'm 5.11 and some times I have to take things up which is unheard ofShock Grin

Passthecake30 · 20/07/2013 16:30

Links please to the super long stuff!

goodasitgets · 20/07/2013 21:00

I picked up a marl grey jersey maxi skirt in new look. Has split up side and thin black belt. Floor length on me at 5'11 Smile

issynoho · 21/07/2013 12:10

My local New Look has stopped doing their Tall range. I did try on one from their normal range and it was long enough but jersey fabric was very thin. They are still doing their size 16+ range plain maxi which I have - It's just long enough for me at 5'9". Just looked and it's not on their website but they had lots in store - black at £20, pink or jade green in sale at £9 or 10.

All the Yours maxis were long enough on me - I bought this one I had seen it on someone I know after starting this thread, and it looks really nice on. Normally I prefer a straight-down, column maxi to minimise the 'galleon in full sail' look but this one is viscose and hangs nicely. Also makes most of an ample bosom - the neckline is very flattering and the empire line gives some definition.

And I've ordered this one

The assistants really were lovely in Yours - helpful, chatty and knowledgeable without being pushy. Really beyond what I would have expected for a cheap-ish high street place.
