Bloody bra interventioners

Great, so now I know I'm a 30dd, not a 34a. That's all well and good if I could actually buy bras in this size! Went into house of Frazer, nothing under 32. Went into m&s, a couple of options, picked up a 2 pack of t-shirt bras, not perfect but will do for now. Picked up 1 bra in tk maxx (the only one in my new size but it fit and was only £3). So now I refuse to wear my old, ill-fitting bras, I have a couple of new, ok-ish fitting bras and am clearly going to have to travel further afield or risk ordering online for all bras in the future! I was blissfully ignorant and slightly uncomfortable until 2 days ago, now I'm empowered and cross!

I'm there with you but I have realised how important decent bras are now and have invested in a few decent ones try bra stop and ebay.

SorrelForbes · 14/07/2013 22:22

Oops, apologies Blush. You will have to become an on-line bra shopper like the rest of us! Brastop, Figleaves, My Curves and Me, Bravissimo and of course, eBay are good for bargains.

TBH, Debenhams seems to have the best range of bras in a 28/30 back. My local JL currently stocks one bra in a 30 that is above a C cup (yes, I have complained) and the HoF only stocks Freya and Fanstasie styles in a 32 back and above!

yep me too! I measured my self today was 34C now 32G. Should have held off the measuring until I actually had spare cash for bra buying.

Bessie123 · 14/07/2013 22:24

I don't understand how larger sizes are so common but so few shops seem to stock them.

Furball · 14/07/2013 22:25

I know! - l'm in the same boat, tis a faff - but oh so worth it

bra gurus directed me to these stores Smile

leia
brastop
my curves and me
and of course bravissimo

BOF · 14/07/2013 22:28

Bravissimo will stock that size.

ExcuseTypos · 14/07/2013 22:29

It's a bit mean to have a go at the lovely bra ladiesWink

I was a 34dd and was told to try 30FF, which fitted me perfectly. I went to JL and they stock Panache, which are lovely a comfortable. I think I'll be joining you with the internt shopping form now on, as my local Debenhams and M and S don't stock any 30FFs

steppemum · 14/07/2013 22:47

bessie - everyone if actually wearing the wrong size, so more people buy 36B than any other size, when actually they should be buying 32G

steppemum · 14/07/2013 22:47

whoops, everyone IS not IF

CunningAtBothEnds · 14/07/2013 22:51

Debenhams measured me
As a 40DD... What should I be?

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/07/2013 22:57

Hard to say exactly Cunning - can you measure yourself as described here

There is the odd debenhams doing it right, but assuming you have an old fashioned one I'd be expecting to see measurements somewhere in the range of 34-36 for underbust, and around 45 (maybe bigger dangling as they measure in a bra) which would put you somewhere around 34H/34GG/36GG/36G territory

CunningAtBothEnds · 15/07/2013 08:13

Ohh thanks will have a go!

ThunderbumsMum · 17/07/2013 21:20

Victoria's Secret doesn't go up to my size (32 G) but in the shop they suggested I try a 36 DD Shock

Shame on them.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/07/2013 21:26

Classic +4 measuring....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

M&S tried the same with me (actually worse, I'm a 30 and they tried to stick me in a 36) and I could have tied the damn thing in a bow.

WetDog · 18/07/2013 00:24

Bra gurus, am I right in thinking that the actual cup on a 32DD is the same as the cup on a 36C?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/07/2013 07:56

In volume terms, theoretically yes. However there is a bit of debate about it!

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 18/07/2013 07:58

30DD? You lightweight. DDs are available everywhere.

(the bra interventioners tell me I am a 28H. Find me one of THOSE)

Furball · 18/07/2013 16:52
