waxing a fat bird

So, off abroad on holidays soon, first one for a few years.

Last time I made do with hair remover cream, the smell of which makes me vom, so I would like to get legs/bikini waxed. I used to get it done every 2 months when I was slim, young and pretty - years ago! Now I am fat, old and ugly, will the beauticians laugh at me? Will they be as revolted at this body as I am? The thought of anyone seeing my fat thighs and hairy old fanjo makes me feel ill.

Nooooo, they have seen it all!!!!

I stood naked apart from pants a couple of weeks ago for a spray tan, and I am fat, wobbly and over 30! I'm sure they don't even notice, just keep their mind on the job. Go for it, even if they did think "err what a minger" who gives a toss, if you don't have s food rappor with the beautician, go somewhere else next time, but get it done!L

Wouldn't give it a second thought. I'm over 50 and recently was at a gynae appt having my history taken and then an internal done by a very young, male med student. The older you get, the younger the people attending to you inevitably are. A body is a body. It's their job. If a beauty therapist/doctor or whatever is revolted by the human form in all it's variations/stages etc, they should be doing something else. Have a great hols.

What do you mean by 'fat', just out of interest?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 10/07/2013 19:14

I'm a big size 16 and I'm off to get my legs and bikini done for holidays in a couple of weeks.

I've never been for a wax before so I'm pretty nervous.

Roshbegosh · 10/07/2013 19:16

Don't forget they wax sack, crack and back on stinky men. Your fanjo will be a relief to them.

lizandlulu · 10/07/2013 20:52

Your exactly the same size as me. I think we are pretty average.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 10/07/2013 21:00

Well, they'll only see your hairy old fanjo if you're having a brazilian / hollywood, otherwise they will work around your pants.

And if it wasn't a hairy fanjo, they wouldn't be in a job. Smile

I used to find getting waxed excruciating but they've seen it all before. I did once ask the beautician what she really disliked about clients - expecting her to mention body odour or ugly feet but she just said lateness and no shows.

It's also important to have the right person doing it. A beautician should be like a pilot - full of confidence, panache and reassurance. You don't want one who looks a bit Confused

Used to be a 16 and regularly got waxed. At no point did it occur to me that I would be judged on this. Fabulous waxer though - of the ' of course this completely normal and we do it all the time' school :-)

Good luck

KatyS36 · 10/07/2013 21:50

PS I was never a fat bird, I was curvy :-)

paulapantsdown · 11/07/2013 07:45

Ok, you've convinced me to stop being daft and make an appointment! Thanks

My beauty therapist has had people come in for brazilians with poo around their bum. As long as you are clean you will be fine.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/07/2013 08:21

Oh dear God that is revolting.

Can I ask another question please? I'm not having a Brazilian or anything like that, just a tidy round the edges. Would it be a good idea to trim the rest quite short, does that make it easier? And how long does the hair need to be to remove it? I'm thinking more armpits here as I generally shave them every couple of days.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 11/07/2013 19:26

Half a centimetre is the min length iirc

FreshLeticia · 12/07/2013 00:14
