I want to buy some navy, wide straight legged, preferably drawstring waist, linen trousers with a budget of £40 though less would be good! I have searched in every shop I can think of but can't find any! Please can any of you super shoppers help?!

"Oh god. Are the home of the style free. Make everyone look bad."

Sorry, but I disagree.

Linen trousers are wonderful. And the ones from Primark are more than acceptable. You can tell that I don't post in Style and Beauty much.

Gaah, what's the matter with this thread? If you don't like Style & Beauty, bugger off and leave it to us judgemental bitches. This is like when people erupt all over Baby Names saying "You shouldn't have opinions about other people's naming choices" Hmm

I'm actually quite curious to try some linen trousers now though. The RI ones sound(ed) good. Were they a bit like these?

x-posted with you nkf, that wasn't particularly aimed at you. Not particularly, you understand Wink

I like them too, surely its how you style them?

I don't feel I look silly in them? cropped ones-no!

Badvoc, does Asda have linen trousers for men?

christ cropped would be a blessed relief
If you want your whole arse and thigh area look like a ham sandwich wrapped in gauze- you go for it. the style flatters NO ONE, the drawstring waist is just an excuse to eat too much and they look SO English in a bad way

Oh, I don't know...sorry.
They had some lovely colours in the ladies...I couldn't get navy though :(

Just checked the website.....doesn't look like it.
Have you tried marks?

They had some lovely ones in next last year that were really slim at the waist and thigh, but wide legged. I have them in navy and white. Might be worth a look.

I love linen trousers. I don't care what some people think.

I have some black ones from littlewoods because they do longer length

And I don't wear drawstring to get away with being fat. In fact the opposite for me. I have wide hips and a smaller waist. I've moved the button across and use the drawstring to pull them in slightly. I then wear a top that covers my waistline. I wouldn't do it if I got too much rucking around the bum or crutch but I don't.
I do wash and iron them after every wear so they're quite high maintenance for me.
I have had compliments from friends when wearing them so can't look too bad.

Anyway yes littlewoods

these are very flattering. Otherwise I have to say I agree with eliots the drawstring ones are like a sack and don't suit anyone.

Where are all these unstylish linen trouser wearers? I haven't seen any. The ones I have seen look fine. Mine don't have a drawstring waist BTW.

I ordered the navy ones from Monsoon but had to return them as they really were extremely frumpy!

Haven't found a decent alternative yet, I'm afraid Sad

I bought these for bumming around in www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_054010100595_-1 and they are super flattering!

Ooh just dropped back in and am very surprised to find so many posts! Never thought linen trousers would inspire such a debate! Shock Well my hunt continues as Asda ones are lovely but as they have gone into sale the navy ones have sold out....gutted as I've bought them in black and they look very smart on.

Like I said earlier...to each their own..guess they are like marmite..but seriously there is no need to get offensive bout them! Drawstring waist is naff all to do with eating more! Just means they don't fall down and fit better!!

And yes river islands were lovely...as were my primark ones which are no longer Sad
