in may I bought a nice shirt froma certain concession in a department store. I cant find the receipt and after a few washes on low temp the item has gone into holes around a label on front and shoulder seam is going the same way.it was nearly £30 & I hate taking it back as I loved it and it is hard to prove it was from there.

have credit card bill but not right amount as I bought other stuff.

I despair as thisisnt thef first time. other older items have done this too. never used to happen. Confused Confused

All too common Hmm clothes just don't seem to last these days it doesn't matter if they cost £5 or £50 the just don't last. I'm sure clothes used to be investments and last years

I think they now use such a small seam allowance to cut costs, that the clothes start to fall apart.

The proper seam allowance is 1.5 cm, and manufacturers used to use 1cm, but now they seem to have gone down to .5cm

Got two nice tops from Zara not long ago - three washes and they've both lost their bloody shape. Back to Uniqlo for me!

yes it has a very small seam allowance. I really like the shirt - it is White Stuff and I bought it in John Lewis but it is now in the sale so I may lose out as I cannot find receipt. I suspect i had other items on it, got a refund and then ripped it up as I could see refund on credit card statement forgetting what was underneath on the original receipt.

I am usually careful with receipts so it is infuriating. I may ask white stuff if I sent it back to them would they send me a replacement but would it fare the same way. Alot of the cotton now is so thin you can see the waft.
